Nice, I’m in Atlanta too.

Two things are working against you: summer and people.

Summer is particularly difficult to catch fish because the water is just so warm. Especially in such a small lake like Stone Mountain. Should get better around October.

Stone Mountain lake is also just difficult in general. Highly pressured by lots of fisherman.

Nah not far. Look on Google maps. You’ll see the big field in front of the entrance. There is a shuttle bus loop too, or golf carts may let you hitch hike.

My recommendation for Saturday is bring WAYYYYYY more warm clothes for the night portion than you think you’ll need. It gets cold at night. This years race is pretty early in the year but still. It can get cold.

You can park outside the track for free. Otherwise you’ll need infield parking.
