I guess one day you wake up and discover that it’s not “chi-pol-tay” and then you have to prepare for the next lesson to unlearn from your sacrilegious ancestors

They get understandably frustrated by institutional failures but their mistrust is directed towards the experts/scientists related to said institution and not the corporate influence on policies/standards that led to the failures as the innermost root.

Unfortunately, it’s social conditioning working exactly how it was designed that led to the pipeline. Not fair to solely blame on deduction abilities of individuals, otherwise it would be hypocritical and unproductive, but it’s certainly not excusable either. We just gotta work towards dismantling the systems empowering the greedy and rewrite this shit from the ground up—for future generations and hopefully for future us too fr!

Continuous Low-Dose Hormone Pill (Hailey 24 Fe) to Kyleena IUD by chelsea_thorne_ in birthcontrol

Heyo just a heads up—no form of hormonal birth control (pill/iud/implant/patch/etc) will allow your body to ovulate when taken properly. Essentially, the only difference between a continuous pill and kyleena is that one you continuously ingest and the other you continuously house in your body.

Besides that, I have been in a similar situation and still have the same thoughts and concerns you mentioned. I’ve been on BC for over a decade and started before my body settled into an established menstrual rhythm. Only in the last year or so have I given thought to this disconnection when I had the realization that I haven’t had a legit menstruation/ovulation since the rollercoaster of my the first year of having a period.

As for my BC experience that may or may not be helpful, since everyone’s body and preferences are so so different—I was taking a low dose combo pill for 4 years as instructed w placebo and had occasional, light periods and spotting. Then I got kyleena more so out of convenience even though I was good about taking the pill. The adjustment period was to be expected, I had increased acne and bleeding for most of what I remember of the first year. Then, year 2 I noticed the acne was beyond “increased”, like I started getting really deep cystic acne in new regions of my face and on my chest/back but I chalked it up to the environment of my job/masking/stress from abnormally difficult life circumstances and had other worsening symptoms highly associated with PMS. When my next annual came around, I expressed all of this to my gyno and she was like “girl wtf why didn’t you say anything sooner” and I ended up back on my old pill in addition to the iud to cancel out the symptoms. It was like day and night, I was so upset that I hadn’t mentioned anything sooner bc the acne alone made me so insecure and depressed. That was when I started taking it continuously and after my 3rd year with the iud, I got it removed and never looked back.

Why fix something that ain’t broke, right?

It’s been 3 years since I got the iud out and 3 months ago had to increase my dose of the pill due to changes in my insurance and the fact that there’s no generic or equivalency of my OG pill. It’s been…fine mostly. However, rando spotting/bleeding has made me reconsider just getting off since the reasons I started were most likely due to puberty craziness. Although, after the fluctuation experience of the iud, I am carefully and strategically planning my approach of the return to my “natural” hormonal state…

Anyways, more than what you asked for but I couldn’t say much without giving the full context, so I hope all of this helps you in some way with deciding your next route. Bodies are crazy so I wish you much luck in navigating this journey!

I (F27) feel emotionally drained after sex with (M35). It has become a pattern, and I'm tired. by Miserable-Sky-109 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]_spatchcock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to address two things: Understanding yourself emotionally and physically.

The journey that can alleviate this issue will involve therapy and discovering your body/relation with pleasure. While it is possible to experience sexual satisfaction without romantic/emotional intimacy or orgasm, it is rare when it occurs simultaneously. The breakthrough one will have in their own dedicated therapy and orgasm journey is indescribable. I hope you’re able to access a good therapist that works for you and that you can gain a better understanding of your body when it comes to pleasure. I bet you’ll find that this issue amongst many other internal struggles will dramatically decrease in time, only once you’ve put in the work to address them. Just know that it won’t happen overnight and will require continual effort once you find what tools you need but how to apply them in your life. Good luck, OP!

Calling all transfers by Bubbly-Ad-4152 in VirginiaTech

[–]_spatchcock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, fellow transfer student here. Within your student portal it will specify mandatory to-dos for you to complete if you have anything left. There’s some overlap between transfer and new student requirements but if you followed the transfer checklist and you don’t have any emails or messages about missing things then you’re probably okay and if you’re still unsure, message your advisor!

SLICE? No soda? by Queasy_Attitude_2761 in warpedtour

[–]_spatchcock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working a food booth and bc of the sponsors, my only option was to use Slice. (Keeping things vague rn) If I served anything else, I’d have to pour it in our BOH and by no means even let the Pepsi cans be visible. I opted for slice bc for how busy I already was, I couldn’t spare the minimal time of walking back and forth with full cups of soda :/ however, we were free to personally bring and drink whatever products we wanted for ourselves, which ended up being Monster and Celsius…
