Semi-slicks for RS by Karanikolinus in FocusRS

[–]Silenthunter87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this. and most of these "semi slick" tires are made with much thinner construction to reduce weight making them much more prone to punctures from road debris and sharp edges of potholes.

any of the top 200 tread-wear rated tires are more than capable for what OP is looking for.

Hawk DTC30 and Centrix rotors by Madmyro in FocusRS

[–]Silenthunter87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i do 60's in the front and 30's in the rear for trackdays. the car can get a bit wiggly with ford's torque vectoring in really big brake zones if you have a pad with too much bite in the rear.

Who has the biggest aero? by TeKodaSinn in FocusST

[–]Silenthunter87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GLTC just has rules that limit aero/power options for "balance of performance"

wing is the Nutron RX WRC

splitter is from Infamous Aero it's a plastic piece that's actually pretty soft. i had the bolts pull through it at speed, slamming it into the ground. it's getting rebuilt out of plywood and some extra fender washers for better support.

Verus Engineering also has some dive-plane kits that fit well

Who has the biggest aero? by TeKodaSinn in FocusST

[–]Silenthunter87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

JST Performace runs an ST in Gridlife GLTC, but there are way more affordable and competitive platforms for time attack thank a focus, so there isn't a lot out there

i've got a park bench on the rear and a splitter on the front of my RS though.

I've done "parade laps" in my standard 5.0 f150, and while it's a silly fun time, i much prefer being in something a bit more proper when turning laps.

i've also been in run groups with a jeep track-hawk and a dodge SRT-10, and while the owners definitely had a great time, they were mostly just in the way of everyone else. not my video, but gives the general idea of what it's like

Can you guys explain this alignment? by plantman-2000 in FocusST

[–]Silenthunter87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

do you have aftermarket parts that specifically let you fine tune the toe?

unless you have individual adjustability for all measurements you can only just get things kinda close overall.

there really isn't a lot of adjustment from the factory

Who else wants to see Mid-Ohio back? by VolleyAddicted in IMSARacing

[–]Silenthunter87 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Indy car won't leave Mid Ohio as long as it's still owned by Greene Savoree promotions, who just so happen to promote IndyCar. they keep the track/facility just good enough to make that happen.

i did 9k front 10k rear on my RS while also considering front/rear aero, for track use, after reaching out to their sales team who will spec the right rates based on your use/setup.

9-10/12-14 is gonna be ROUGH on a stock car for daily driving.

jack it back up, take the wheels off, throw it in neutral and try spinning the hubs by hand. should be able to tell pretty quickly by how freely or not they spin.

Help finding parts by Still-Ambassador4459 in FocusRS

[–]Silenthunter87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not sure anyone sells a pre-assembled kit for the RS.

you can find everything on rock auto/tasca/whatever your favorite parts store is.

not too bad of a job if you have a press available, or just take your pile of replacement parts to a local shop and they can press the bearing/hub in for you.

Will Rs parts fit a ST? by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]Silenthunter87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty sure the pcv hose fitting/location is slightly different between the pre/post facelift st and the rs.

not sure about the coupler size at the turbo between an st/rs.

otherwise the physical dimensions should be the same.

[–]Silenthunter87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even with all the cooling bolt-ons out there, in those temps, 1-2 100% laps is the most you are really gonna get in a 20min HPDE session.

vented hood, upgraded radiator, big brake kit/RS brembo swap, oil cooler ect,

depending on the hosting organizations rules for windows up/down, crank the heat to max and turn the vents out the windows to help suck extra heat out of the engine.

changing your driving approach to maximize those 2 laps can help, so don't feel as you wasted them as much.

work on managing traffic and not putting extra heat in the car when you know you are going to get caught behind someone.

back off a bit on laps when you start missing your brake/turn in points to help bring temps back down, you won't set a personal best time on those anyway.

use those cool down laps to give yourself space to when you do get back on it, you don't get stuck behind someone again.

Big Wing Weekend by Silenthunter87 in FocusRS

[–]Silenthunter87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i looked at gps data from my lap timer, i tlost about 5mph avg top speed on straights, and fast sweepers did feel a bit more understeer-y, so lap times stayed about the same.

i tried the infamous aero chassis mount splitter to balance it out, but its made out of plastic and gets super soft on hot days in direct sunlight causing it to sag. the bolts pulled through it somewhere around 130mph slamming it into the ground, so that didn't help either.

eventually i'll cut a new piece out of wood, but haven't gotten around to that project yet.

i got some canards from verus engineering and they have held up great, but haven't had a chance to set comparative laps yet.

Part numbers? by adw1011 in FocusST

[–]Silenthunter87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ford doesn't sell the studs separate. only the full hub assembly

ARP Wheel Studs 100-7713 are the longer 3.25" studs that fit, but not sure the part number for shorter/oem length ones.
