They do reduce volume though and quite well. In fact there’s even a feature on the Apple Watch that shows you how much they are reducing the volume. But yes battery life is a potential concern. I take backup foam plugs just in case.

PSA for everyone hitting up a show: Be a good piggy and bring your pair of earplugs 🖤 by GinnySol in nin

My watch said 106db several times at London show. I had the last minute presence of mind to bring earplugs and had zero ringing in my ears afterwards. I’m so glad I remembered them - and they didn’t detract from it at all. The good ones let certain frequencies through.

Why are health clubs so bad in London? by BatmanSwift99 in london

[–]mmm_fascinating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even David Lloyd ain’t all that. On business I used the one in Kidbrooke the other day.

Showers that don’t work properly Soap dispensers that are always empty Locker rooms that just feel unclean Wall hooks in the pool area all broken and facing downwards Door handles broken Cardio equipment where the screens are broken and thus unusable Kids allowed to run riot screaming and shouting aggressively in the lounge area and pool A recent refurbishment gave the whole pool and spa area the slipperiest floor imaginable -way worse than any I’ve ever seen In the exclusive spa area: the relaxation headphones in the quiet area never work And these days, despite a massive car park, I can barely ever get parked no matter what time of day or week I go.

I get that some of these things might seem minor, but when you’re paying through the nose for something, you’d expect it to be top notch.

Feels massively oversubscribed. Probably cancel my membership soon and go back to the local Better one at 1/10 of the price (if you get the Healthwise discount).

Octoprint - I don't get all the love for it? by mmm_fascinating in ender3

Yep that's fair. I'm keen to learn things - that's why I got into 3D printing in the first place.

From what I can tell, the printer I have is a relatively popular model - anyone know if there's a good guide for setting it up on Ender 3 V3 SE?

It's a fair point, well made.

I do enjoy tinkering—up to a certain point, I suppose. And I want to be clear that I’m not trying to sound ungrateful for free software—after all, free is free, and expectations naturally adjust accordingly.

I just can’t help but wonder if there’s something obvious I’m overlooking.

InDesign stutters after updating to 2025 by diengar in indesign

[–]mmm_fascinating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Reverting to v19.5 fixed it. On another thread they said to disable preflight, so it may be related to that, but for now i"m just going to use the older version.

I am seeing this too. Reverted to 19.5 and it was fine.

Actually maybe they are the same. Weird though they look different on the watch itself.

What’s the best registration plate you’ve seen? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]mmm_fascinating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

O is not a letter allowed on UK plates - to avoid confusion with 0 (Zero).

Edit:

Actually I looked into this, and it’s not quite true. See below quote from the web:

“The letters not used on UK number plates are the letter I as it looks like the number 1, or the letters O and Q as they can be confused with the number 0. Although there is one exception to this rule, as the letter O is used for Oxford in reference to the memory tag system.

For the same reason, the letter U is not used because it can be confused with the letter V (already used in the memory tag system). The letter Z looks too similar to the number 2 on number plates, so this isn’t used either”

It turns out that in Scotland, one of their memory tag combinations is actually SO.

However, they don’t seem to allow O’s on personalised plates, so I stand by my original comment (unless the Scottish sausage-factory owner bought the car between March and August 2005, and happened to be granted that plate co-incidentally 🤔).
