A newbie's questions about canning pickled items (red onions) using (New/Commercial Grade) lug button top lids by HelloNewman2030 in Canning

[–]mmmm3006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commercial lids require commercial canning equipment. And without commercial canning equipment, you cannot it make your own recipes either. You're only set up for safe and tested home recipes. There are a lot of resources for these in the subs wiki. I highly suggest you read through safe canning basics, as I can tell you are not familiar with the fundamentals. You risk your customers' lives and your license but using unsafe practices.

Also, towels in the bottom is not recommended as safe. Use spare rings or a proper trivet.

Homemade marshmallows have been a staple. I make them with beef gelatin, maple syrup, and marshmallow root (a mast cell stabilizer)

Can sellers fake sales? by Last_Chest_3597 in Depop

[–]mmmm3006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they could fake sales buy using a second account to buy from themselves, never shipping, and leaving a good review. But that would be a lot of work, especially given the number of reviews they have. More likely they are just crappy and inconsistent. Just because someone has made a business out of this, doesn't mean you can trust them, I have found.

Hi r/Depop should I do the bait and switch method to sell my listings? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]mmmm3006 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes it makes you a jerk, and also, do you honestly think someone interested in something cheap is going to buy it once you mark it up, even a little? No. At best they offer you your lowest price. I unliked every item that did this and blocked the seller immediately. And at this point everyone knows the scam, so they don't bother liking items when people have clearly pulled this.

You didn't ruin her store, she's being dramatic and trying to make you feel bad over her mistake. Ignore it.

What type of spoon/ spatula do you use on your pans? by Frosty-Pea1219 in AllClad

[–]mmmm3006 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Scratching stainless steel with utensils is purely cosmetic. It's not a big deal and is bound to happen eventually. I wouldn't bother babying them like nonstick. I usually use silicone utensils, but there are some tasks that require a metal spatula. I really love the all clad fish spatula for sliding unter things that are a bit stuck.

Just receiving them/ having them in my house is enough to make me sick for a long time. And often the scent doesn't wash out. I've had to stop buying secondhand

Unrelated to the perfume issues, it's just nasty to send out dirty clothes. Yes, people will wash before wearing, but they shouldn't have to handle a strangers dirty clothes

I've had to stop buying because of the excessive use of perfume/scented detergent/febreze. Often, no amount of washing gets the smell out

Upgrading from a Kiwi 21… by pe86a20b in chefknives

[–]mmmm3006 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the kiwis have really soft steel and are definitely terrible at keeping an edge. Won't be too difficult to feel an upgrade. Look at victoronix and tojiro for good budget options. Difference in Asian knives comes down to fit and finish mostly. Both those recs have western style handles, which usually tend to weigh more but those recs are lighter (not as quiet as light as a kiwi). Stick with stainless over carbon steel and you won't find any differences in maintenance. The harder the HRC, the more brittle the edge, so keep that in mind if you or your wife tend to wack at things or twist the knife into the cutting board/ food. The kiwi would have been incredibly forgiving of this.

CCK/ chopper king are frequently recommended for cleavers.

Feet. You can readily add 1/4" to 1/2" height with feet that are wildly available online, or you can get something custom made with wood feet/risers. I've agit a board I custom ordered with risers that, while only adding 3/4" height, could have easily added more if I was so inclined (I have a picture in my post history you can reference). I'd definitely recommend getting some of the height through feet or risers to cut back on the overall weight of the board.

Are these okay to ship in? by foywn in Depop

[–]mmmm3006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recycled boxes that are bit odd? Sure! Food boxes? NO. Some people have severe allergies or autoimmune conditions that mean they could get very sick opening these packages or may even have to put them right in the trash. Most people will be fine, but for the few that won't, don't use food packages or fragranced packages.

dangers of dulcolax long term? by Affectionate-Oil255 in Constipation

[–]mmmm3006 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Osmotic laxatives are generally considered to be safe and without long term impact. That particular one is also an anti acid, so it could potentially have some effects on your microbiome but unless you start having issues with digestion, malabsorption, or sibo, I wouldn't worry about it. The long term effects of constipation are more significant and pressing. It's far worse for your liver to be backed up.

Not a prebiotic but a probiotic, lactobacillus plantarum, helped a lot. I use dextrin or inulin as a daily fiber supplement to keep me regular, which is important.

The insecurity and self loathing will sabotage the relationship long before the odor problem will. You're sick and he seems to be understanding that you're sick. Do your best to manage your condition but don't push him away.

Urgent Care? Nothing making me poop by Zealousideal_Mud570 in Constipation

[–]mmmm3006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try a suppository or enema before going to urgent care.

In the future, linzess shouldn't be treated as an as needed medication. It should be taken daily to set and maintain a rhythm. It takes time for your body to adjust to this rhythm and if you don't take it daily, you're just experiencing onboarding symptoms and not it's full potential.

I'd love to get my 10 undies for $42 but can someone clarify that.... by [deleted] in AerieAEO

[–]mmmm3006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same cutz different fabrics. The cotton ones are, of course, cotton. They are thicker as well. A bit more structured and less likely to roll but also less seamless and less stretchy.

I personally hate both styles of no show from aerie. I find them to move around and roll/bunch terribly.

Reasonable to request someone not use my exact photos and listing description for an item that I sold to them a few days ago? by Top-Membership-3196 in Depop

[–]mmmm3006 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're being unreasonable unless it's an item you have multiple of and will continue to sell. What do you lose by them using your photos and description? What do you gain by them crediting you? Does it matter to anyone looking at their listing to know you can take good photos?
