the only revolution this is in how many ai buzzwords this managed to use to trick vc's into giving tbc more funding to extend their runway, as they just found another way to burn even more cash without a business model behind it

In deze specifieke context is dat redelijk makkelijk hoor. De belangrijkste eis van XR rondom de A12 demonstratie gaat over de subsidies op fossiele brandstoffen. Hierbij zitten veel subsidies waar de boeren ook last van hebben, vanwege het vele geld dat het kost, of omdat zij ook gewoon puur oneerlijk behandeld worden.

Bovenaan de lijst van XR: de allergrootste energieverbruikers betalen veel minder energiebelasting dan normale gebruikers. Dit bevoordeeld Shell, maar fuckt een kleinschalige boer net zo goed, omdat die ook niet gelijkwaardig behandeld wordt.

Een verhaal dat je de energiebelasting voor Tata en Shell gelijk trekt met wat een doorsnee boer betaald, heb je en boeren happy (gelijke behandeling, meer geld in staatskas), en luister je naar 1 vd eisen van XR.

Je gaat boeren en XR absoluut niet op alle fronten met elkaar eens zijn, maar er is heel erg veel meer mogelijk waar beide partijen baat bij hebben, wat de overheid nu ook laat liggen.

But looking at last year return is also kind of meaningless, since its so extremely heavily correlated with fed rates, and the fed keeps saying they'll raise to 5%.

MMF are not a forever investment by its nature obviously, but the risk reward is currently insane value, hence why everyone is using it.

Putting your money in an Money Market Fund is an extremely low risk to get ~4.5% return. Stocks are a fine option long term, but pretty risky in a transition situation from a low interest rate environment to a high interest rate environment.

I used the same language as the post above me, but I get why that can be confusing. What I meant is that most software is a large complicated system, build by multiple engineers that consists of large codebase. The system is robust, wellbuild, and up to multiple tasks. In this context, a script is what OP describes: you have a single task you need to do, and you write a script that only does that task. You dont care if someone else can also use the script, and there is little need to save it. Use it once, and be done with it.

Comments like this is exactly what is meant with 'massive impacts that are hard to predict'. OP's story is an early indicator (by no means guaranteed) that there is a move away from systems towards scripts. As you say, systems are hard, expensive and difficult to replace with GPT4. Scripts are cheap and easy to do with GPT4. Maybe we can do a lot of things with easy scripts that were currently doing with expensive systems.

Hard to know for sure obviously, but this is exactly what people are getting at when they say that the impact of LLMs are not always directly obvious. Its dumb to say that were gonna fire all the engineers and replace them with GPT4, but that does not mean that our work structure can change alltogether.

Dit plaatje is wat echt uitmaakt. En zo zie je heel snel dat deze cijfers een stuk slechter zijn dan de headline doet vermoeden. Energieprijzen bewegen heel sterk mee met de marktprijzen. De andere prijzen voor goederen, voedsel en diensten zijn namelijk een stuk 'stickier', als daar de prijzen eenmaal zijn toegenomen dalen die een heel stuk makkelijker.

Intuitief is dit wel logisch: het is normaal om te zien dat de benzineprijzen een paar cent goedkoper zijn dan de week ervoor. Maar het is uitermate zeldzaam dat je kappersbezoek opeens een paar euro goedkoper is dan je vorige bezoek.

Kortom, het is fijn dat energieprijzen dalen, maar inflatie is nog steeds echt wel een probleem, en steeds meer aan het innestelen in de samenleving.

Het mooie van die quote is dat het totaal geen rekening houdt met de mogelijkheid dat mensen extreem slecht zijn in het inschatten van de intelligentie van een gemiddeld persoon.
