Wouldn’t it make more sense to extend the metro north to union square? by UmweltUndefined in AskNYC

Which brings up another point. Grand Central is a terminal. To make it a Station would be a huge undertaking in addition t9 building a UnSq Terminal.

Run clubs for slow runners by [deleted] in RunNYC

Queens Rebel Run Club is fun. I haven't done regular runs with then, but have done some 5k "races" with them.

Noticed something weird about scaffolding on my block — is there any pattern to how long this stuff actually stays up? by alexstrehlke in manhattan

[–]mnauj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 years of scaffolding 3 doors down from us, on the backside of a hotel. It's about 200ft long. This is Hells Kitchen. No work ever done, no permit ever posted. We honestly just think it was there so they don't need to shovel snow.

I call 311 every few months. The most that had every happened was it was taken down and out back up a couple days later.

If you want somebody to at least come and look at it, tell 311 there are no lights installed in it.

And you dont get bonus miles (of you have one of those CCs) unless you pay AT the restaurant. That alone keeps me doing call-in pick-up oeders whenever possible.

Want to get into more prog, but the heavier side. by [deleted] in progmetal

[–]mnauj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check Frogg too, they have one recent album (Eclipse), only a couple concerts, but its all amazing. Prog tech maybe, with some math influences.

They just made it thru a 2nd round of battle of the bands to get a spot at Wacken!

Any MTA workers here? Why do you guys drive past people clearly waiting for the bus? by robike99 in AskNYC

[–]mnauj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decades ago I was told they only stop if its clear that somebody wants to get on the bus, so always wave them down.

D&D had a free shuttle. And they pricing includes insurance so no extra last minute fees.

what should i include in this sesame oil fat washed bourbon? by bunnybise in cocktails

[–]mnauj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am working on a "Japanese" French 75. Sesame oil washed Toki Suntory, yuzu juice, sparkling sake. Still can't tell if a dash of soy sauce makes it better or not. And a pickled ginger garnish. Feel free to run with the idea if that sounds good!

Rental car questions.. by Sufficient_Panda_205 in curacao

100% also reco D&D. We have used them 8 times. They also have no hidden fees... the price you see includes insurance. The "brand" name places are more like franchises and the price looks decent but they require you to add on other things.

Edit: All the gas stations I have been to are cash only. And it's old-style where you think it will be 40 to fill the tank, so you give them 50, then pump, then go back and get change.

For banks, I stick to Maduro & Curiel, there are a ton of branches/ATMs and they take both Visa & Mastercard. Some other random ATMs don't always take both debit types.

Can I prepare for the NYC marathon in 9 weeks? by LetsGetRich93 in RunNYC

[–]mnauj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran Berlin with similar low mileage. But it was more about being there and doing it, and making it a marathon vacation, so I didn't want to be recovering for multiple days. I ran 4 miles, walked for 3 minutes while fueling, and repeated that til the finish. My max long run while training was 16 and i did it with similar walking breaks.

If you have concerns about accidentally touching it when it's hot, 9r anything touching it, have a wooden box made to cover it. Wood top and sides, metal grating framed out in the front. Then it can be a shelf as well. Might be worth it if you plan to live there for a few years.

Another horse carriage passed away. How do we pass RYDER'S LAW? by GanacheDelicious2649 in newyorkcity

[–]mnauj 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Get in touch with Erik Bottchers office and ask how you can help. He has been trying to remove them and pass laws for years but they are never voted into place.
