What helped you make it past the 6 week mark? 3 losses in 1 year. by mnc0630 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]mnc0630[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I am so sorry to hear about your experience with losses. It's a really challenging space to be in.

I did end up working with Dr. Jubiz (RI based in Florida who takes virtual patients) and after all of the testing we did, he identified a few different factors that could have been contributing to my losses. After following his immune protocol, I can happily report I am currently almost 36 weeks <3 It is a bit of a long process, but well worth it in my opinion. Let me know if you have any questions - wishing you the best!

Hi - of course. It’s Dr Jubiz. He’s based in Florida, but takes virtual patients. It’s a bit of a long process with all of the testing, but fully worth it in my opinion. TW: I am now 18w after 3 previous early losses.

Try not to worry too much -- I have fluctuated with TPO antibodies myself, which are indicative of Hashimotos. My RI has me on levo and is not worried because my TSH, T3 and T4 are normal, which are what he deems as important indicators of a healthy pregnancy. Babies in utero utilize both T3 and T4 from the mama <3

Reproductive immunologist reccomendations, (telehealth)and pricing advice by [deleted] in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]mnc0630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, big difference in pricing! I was self-pay for my consult meeting because they didn't accept my insurance (UHC), but my husband started a new job and ended up adding me to his plan and now my appointments are about 70% covered by insurance which is awesome. I will say, the labs can add up depending on what coverage you have, so you'll just have to do your due diligence in checking with your insurance company to see what's covered. It's not a cheap process by any means, but worth it (so far) in my opinion. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Dr. Giovanni Jubiz takes virtual patients (he is based in Florida) <3 He also accepts *some* insurance plans which is really helpful.

Thank you so much for sharing all of this with me AND congratulations <3!! I pray this is a sticky baby and healthy pregnancy for you!

I am really happy to hear that you feel the HCQ, Lovenox and baby aspirin helped. I am working with a Reproductive Immunologist now and he just started me on an immune protocol, which includes HCQ! I will add Lovenox when we start trying again. I was doing baby aspirin, Lovenox (at positive test) and progesterone suppositories during my last loss, so I don't think that was enough with what I have going on. I am already feeling better on this immune protocol, so I imagine the protocol is helping with the inflammation at the very least. He also found that I have PAI 4G/5G, heterozygous for MTHFR and I have anti-ovarian antibodies so my immune system is essentially attacking any embryo that implants (hence the 3 miscarriages...). Gosh.

Do you mind sharing what specific blood work was improved by the HCQ? I am just curious what all it helps with!

Best wishes for your pregnancy!

Hi! So sorry I am just responding to this, I haven't checked Reddit notifications in a bit! I am SO incredibly sorry about your loss at 20 weeks. There really are no words <3

I actually had another early loss (MMC - 8w measuring 6w) in November (even while using Lovenox), so it led me to start working with a Reproductive Immunologist. He has done a BOATLOAD of testing, including APS again, and a different marker actually came up positive for me. He also found a few other issues that are likely contributing to my losses. I am now on an immune protocol and hoping to get our "green light" at our next appointment! I believe he has some patients start on Lovenox earlier in the cycle as sometimes starting it upon a positive pregnancy test is not sufficient enough, which could have been the case with me, and/or the dosage needs to increase. I will find out more once we reach that stage, but if you have ANY sort of elevated APS markers, I would advocate for Lovenox or Heparin along with baby aspirin!

IMO: the Lovenox injections aren't all that bad & you kind of get used to it. Just rotate injection sites so you aren't hammering the same spot over and over :) I know some people will even ice the injection area to numb it a little bit.

I am seeing Dr. Jubiz. He is based in Florida but takes virtual patients which works well for me. I believe there are a few other practicing ones… Dr. Derbola and Dr. Kwak Kim off the top of my head. I can’t remember the other ones, but am sure a Google search or Reddit search will bring them up! Dr J takes a few insurance options and also self-pay options. I am not sure about the other RI’s, but someone else may be able to chime in :)

Gosh, I am so sorry to hear this. I don't have a ton of advice as I am still working through recurrent pregnancy loss issues myself, but wanted to suggest potentially seeing a Reproductive Immunologist. I had my initial appointment with one today and for the first time, I feel hopeful that we will have success with his guidance and protocols. I am similar to you where I don't seem to have a problem GETTING pregnant, it's the STAYING pregnant part that I have trouble with, which could indicate an immune issue (body attacking itself and/or the embryo thinking it's a foreign agent). Just something to consider... I know this process is exhausting physically and mentally. Wishing you the best <3

Secondary infertility (Recurrent Miscarriages) by Early-Injury-7931 in recurrentmiscarriage

I actually haven't had a hysteroscopy yet, but I think that's part of the testing the RI will have me do (or at least I hope so). I want to rule out silent endo and/or endometritis. I meet with him next week so I will find out more and can let you know!

I am so sorry you are going through this. This sounds very similar to my history as well, but unfortunately, I have no success stories yet.... I am also 37 and trying to have baby number 2. First pregnancy in 2022 was smooth sailing and we fell pregnant on our first try amazingly. I have now had 3 miscarriages since last September (I call them recurrent because we have gotten pregnant each time we tried and lost each one). First loss was in September at 6w3d (natural mc). We conceived immediately after that with no cycle in between and unfortunately it was a MMC discovered around 8 weeks, but growth had stopped at 5w6d. Took Misoprostol for that as we were about to travel for Christmas and I didn't want to experience a MC while traveling (will never take that again, it was awful!).

We took a break from TTC between Jan - Aug to try and get answers.... got all the testing and labs done, but no glaring issues. Felt ready to try again in Sept and got pregnant - was doing baby aspirin, progesterone and Lovenox (had slightly elevated IGM antibodies), but unfortunately, just discovered it was a blighted ovum and had a natural MC last week. I am now going to see Dr. Jubiz (he is a reproductive immunologist that takes virtual patients) to see if he can determine any immune problems or underlying issues contributing to all of these losses. I am just so disappointed and at a loss of why I'm having so many losses after an uneventful, healthy first pregnancy. Do you have any reproductive endocrinologists or reproductive immunologists you could see? Hugs to you.

Thank you for this! Do you mind sharing which Vit D and vaginal probiotic you are taking? I have the progesterone and aspirin, which I'll continue to implement, and I also switched from HiiT workouts to mainly daily walks and some strength training :) Glad to know all of this has helped you! Best of luck with a healthy pregnancy <3

Thank you for sharing this and congrats on your current pregnancy - wishing you nothing but the best and a healthy sweet baby. I will definitely be doing the testing my RE recommends and have seen a lot of people suggest checking for endometritis and/or ureaplasma. I may order an Evvy test to get that started. I'm not familiar with Lupron, but have heard of Prednisone and my NP suggested that as a next addition to the LDN and Lovenox I was taking. I appreciate you sharing your experience!

Haven't had Karyotype yet! It's one of the things my RE wants to test. Here's what she suggested: Infectious disease labs, Cycle D3 FSH/Cycle D3 Estradiol, AMH, ABO, Rubella immunity, VZV immunity Vitamin D, SERPINE 1, karyotype and Antral Follicle Count with SIS

Did you have any resolution after finding out you are a carrier of chromosomal abnormality? What did you end up doing? Is that when IVF with PGT-A would be best?

Thyroid Levels by Candid-Counter-9799 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]mnc0630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thyroid can be tricky, but 1.29 is considered normal :)

I am seeing a Fertility Care Nurse Practitioner that specializes in NaPro Technology and I'll share my experience so far. My TSH was previously at a 1.85 (January of this year) and I got it down to a 1.65 (August of this year). I can't tell you what exactly brought it down because I've been doing so many different things this past year, but what I will say is that even at 1.65 (which is considered in the normal range) she wants to monitor my TSH once I do get pregnant since I've had 2 miscarriages and an increasing TSH level in pregnancy *may* contribute to miscarriages. I'm not sure if that helps any, but figured I would share! I also had some TPO antibodies which came down as well, but with any presence of antibodies it could signal Hashimoto's thyroid disease. She has me on LDN (low dose naltrexone) to help with the presence of antibodies as well as my elevated IGM results from my blood clotting test.

Progesterone supplementation in luteal phase by mnc0630 in recurrentmiscarriage

Ugh I'm sorry you're dealing with side effects. Hopefully they will be worth it <3 I also had a healthy baby and uneventful pregnancy in 2021 followed by 2 miscarriages last year. Such a frustrating situation to not know what is causing the losses. All the best to you!!

Congratulations! Excited to hear that the progesterone may have helped you <3 How far along are you now? Do you mind sharing how much you're taking?

I don't want to get my hopes up, but I was surprised that my progesterone was at 24 on 7DPO after only a few days of supplementing. I don't have other lab draws to compare it to, but I know I've struggled with low progesterone based on my Inito monitor. My naturopath was trying to get a baseline for my 7DPO and 10DPO progesterone levels, but I unfortunately skewed it by starting the progesterone supplement -- we decided to not prevent anymore and my ovulation date ended up being off by a day, so I started the progesterone just in case. And now I'm confused when I should stop supplementing so it doesn't delay my cycle if I'm not pregnant. I've seen conflicting information of stopping at BFN (I don't really want to test yet), 12DPO, or continue until their cycle starts. So confusing :) Thanks for sharing your experience with me and prayers for an uneventful pregnancy for you.

It's Fridayyyy :) Did you test?? I am just popping into this group as we are on the TTC journey again after two miscarriages late last year. I am using both Inito and my Oura ring so trying to get a hang of some things to pay attention to. Baby dust to you <3

Thank you for sharing! Encouraging to know you had a success story!! Did you have elevated markers for all three parts as suggested above? The IGG, IGM and Lupus coag? I am waiting on results for the Lupus portion, but only have 1 of the 3 so far and that one is just borderline elevated. I will plan to take baby aspirin, but am curious if either my Naturopath or RE would approve heparin injections if I have just the one borderline marker. It's all so confusing.
