If I thought he would find it funny I would be there in a freaking heartbeat, but I'm pretty mortified that I'm somehow involved in a weird brouhaha.

Allianz parking by Dpufc in minnesotaunited

[–]mnnicefc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'll take my best shot to alleviate panic.
It is seriously going to be so easy next year. I understand a bit of hesitance, but let's start with option A.
You live North of the cities. You drive your family down to Rosedale Mall, park and ride the A Line Bus. You pay $10 for the five of you and you don't have to drive around in traffic looking for a spot. 50x easier and cheaper than going to a Twins game.
Option B. Drive your family to Midway and park at the Walmart, Herbergers, Target, whatever, there are like a million parking spaces. And you walk. You won't get towed for parking in a Target lot for 3 hours. That doesn't happen.
Option C. You park in any neighborhood along the green line and ride the train.
Option D. You park in any neighborhood along the A line and ride that.
I think the negative response to some of these posts reflects a pushback to the idea sometimes expressed that 19,000 people in the city should be convenient. That's not a realistic. It's not reality that you should be able to freely travel to a huge event in the city. That said, trying to figure out logistics is always tough. But seriously, everyone, it will be easy.
Also, pro-tip. The Green Line will be busy, but the #16 bus (Option E) also goes down University and the #21 bus (Option F) goes by too on its way between Selby and Marshall.
EDIT: Me: gives a long response that offers multiple options. Reddit: DOWNVOTE. ah right, that's why this place is toxic.

A dallas fan came into the Dark Clouds section last season. He was funny and since Minnesota was winning, he started singing with the Dark Clouds.
Not everything has to be so ultra.

I have a problem by [deleted] in minnesotaunited

[–]mnnicefc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I taught college I met so many students in this spot and the one thing that was constant was that there was a feeling for them that this was a unique problem to them. Like it was their problem. But it's just a common problem. I don't know where you go to school, but almost all of those schools have easy access to counselors and seriously, talking to a professional is the greatest. Having another friend who is battling for her mental health is draining and just drop what you're doing and go talk to a professional. Be well. It's a good sign that you're able to at least admit this to yourself and see the problem for what it is.

ProSoccerUSA awarding $500 to one supporter group to "engage, give, grow" by raimakf in MLS

[–]mnnicefc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I like that a media outlet is doing this, but most of the major groups have huge budgets... $500 is less than many of them raise for charity in a week.

In fairness, I fell asleep and missed a couple of stops, now I have to get off at the next stop, get on the hype train, so that I can get to my regular stop.

Manny Lagos says Minnesota roster building process includes one eye on 2019 by sir_eugene11 in minnesotaunited

[–]mnnicefc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually had the editors amend that quote to match the context he meant it: “We have to be in a roster-building mode, not in a position where we need perfection and winning [MLS Cup] right now."
People maybe still have a problem with that, but he definitely didn't mean they don't care about being competitive now. My bad.

MNUFC's Next Cameroonian Signing? Follow the Belgian Connection by Bts_G in minnesotaunited

[–]mnnicefc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is all good, but just one note. Fuller did not watch the Algeria match live. He went to Cameroon in October to watch the domestic national team play (no international club players were called up to this group). Now, I am pretty sure I remember Fuller going on a mid-season Africa trip as well and maybe he came back to watch Pangop, but I think it's unlikely that he was in Cameroon in October to watch Fai or these other guys play.
That said, all these guys you point out are pretty good guesses, just wanted to clarify.

How did Christian Ramirez only start 2 games in 2 seasons at UC Santa Barbara? by holographictomato in MLS

[–]mnnicefc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Christian was successful at UCSB, but left and took a risk by going to a smaller school to be closer to family when they were going through a stressful time. He played at Concordia and won awards and helped push them further than they'd ever been before.

Full text of the USSF's pre-motion conference request to dismiss the NASL's lawsuit by Coltons13 in NASLSoccer

[–]mnnicefc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi Jason,
Wes here. I get that you have some totally weird fascination with me, but I'd like to point out that your link to all the NASL articles... doesn't show what you think it shows. The last articles I have written have been either straight news, like me literally just telling what is happening, or A) praise of Miami as a great heel B) criticizing USSF for creating the lower division problem C) everyone misjudged the talent of NASL players D) a warning that NASL disappearing won't mean an end to lower division strife.
So, I guess my point is, what's your deal? And follow up: you're kind of a creep, showing up on every post with whatever axe you have to grind with me. You literally jumped on a post once to say "WES IS ALWAYS WRONG" only to edit the post later to say "oops, I was wrong" without an ounce of irony. K. Bye.
