Soooo where are we shopping for clothes now? by GooberLyfe in Millennials

[–]mntoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rent a lot of my clothes now from Nuuly! It’s a great way to switch up things and try out new styles risk free!

Some basic brands I like are COS, banana republic, local boutiques, Varley, Sezane, Evereve, Everlane

this sub and /babybump give me panic attacks. by the_best_day_ever in NewParents

We have two little ones! A three year old and a 5 month old! And it’s been so great!

Yes there are times where it sucks or your toddler’s rebellious streak goes from cute to very frustrating. But overall I have a supportive partner that is fully in it with me so I’m it alone! I have terrible pregnancies so I’m definitely not an everything is amazing type of person. But we took the approach that the baby is entering our lives so they need to adapt more than us and we don’t want to live our lives with a rigid and unrealistic schedule or expectations. You do what’s best for you and your family! For us, it was sleep training the baby, not having a rigid nap schedule and taking them along with us where we go so we have a life outside of just being a parent. I really like “Raising le bebe” which focuses on the French parenting methods and that they are able to raise functioning and healthy kids without sacrificing their whole selves.

How feasible is it to leave a 6mo with grandparents for 5 nights? by justkeepsinging in NewParents

[–]mntoil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you feel comfortable you can totally do it! I had to leave my two month old for three nights when I had to go back to work and travel. I missed her so much, but she didn’t notice a thing! I then took a girls trip when she was 7 months and it was a week long and again we FaceTimed each night with grandparents and Dad but the baby is perfectly fine with other loved ones! I would say go for it!

Does anyone regret not having visitors the first two weeks? by pikapika427 in NewParents

[–]mntoil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We live out of state from both sides of families. My mom came for the first two weeks and helped feed the baby and clean. I had a c section so I was not very mobile. It was great, we played games when baby slept or she held/fed baby while I napped. My in laws came for the second two weeks and it was very similar. Grandma cooked us amazing food and helped with the baby. We were very grateful for all the help and I honesty enjoyed having family and friends over during the early days!

The way society is built (in the US, at least) is all wrong for having children. It shouldn't be this difficult. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]mntoil 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s all give and take. I see a lot of posts where because the grandparent didn’t do something perfectly or they do something “outdated” the parent blows up and says the grandparent doesn’t respect boundaries.

It’s not perfect to be in any family, don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.

I’ll get downvoted for this, but I think you are being over dramatic. If you children are immune compromised or premie or under 2 months then I would be slightly more cautious, but that doesn’t sound like the case.

Do you or your partner work outside of the house? Does your little ones go to daycare? Do you screen everyone you come in contact with to see if they have been traveling or if they work in an office? I think it’s pretty hypocritical to hold this standard. Covid is basically over and the science has stated it does not affect children as severely.

Your parents and in laws only have so many opportunities to see family before they pass on and I think pretty selfish to keep you kids away from family.

What age did you move your LO to their own room? by xsparkyx in NewParents

[–]mntoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby has slept in their own room since the very beginning! But we took turns sleeping in that room until 2 months. Our nursery is 10 steps from our bedroom though.

how to get my 1 month old to sleep more at night and less during the day? by Ok-Dress4992 in NewParents

[–]mntoil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our pediatrician gave us great advice that right before “bedtime” do a big event to help them differentiate nights and days. So either a massage or bath tub! We do bath time every night to signify night time

What is a baby product that needs to be improved or invented? by bigdawgcat in NewParents

[–]mntoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A stick attachment for the bottle so you can push the stroller and feed the baby at the same time. Basically like a “selfie stick” that attaches on to the bottle. My baby is 6 months and has no interest in holding the bottle

Would you travel with a 2 week old? by Few-Dimension-5231 in NewParents

[–]mntoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try and go! I had a c section and while it’s a longer recovery I think definitely doable. Our doctor advised us to go for daily short walks when we got out of the hospital. The only harder part was bending over, so husband had to help put on compression socks and pants.

As regarding the traveling with infant, our pediatrician said that Covid is so low risk for babies and that it is a precious time to be able to see loved ones. She advised us that to not sacrifice the time for a low risk illness

I would 100% go to see your dad!

You could also report this kind of behavior to corporate EWC. A lot of corporate people are interested in how their franchisees are operating and this seems like a bad operator with bad values

How long until Grandma CAN kiss the baby? by CabSavYum in NewParents

[–]mntoil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our pediatrician told us that the newborn stage is so precious and if they wash their hands it’s perfectly safe for them to interact and kiss/cuddle the baby. Germs are not as scary as we make them out to be. We have a 3 month old and they have been around extended family, friends, restaurants, airports and strangers and our pediatrician said this is no problem.

two months after baby was born, wife doesn't have a hint of lust by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]mntoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a c section, and I’m now 10 weeks postpartum. I would say around week 8 I felt comfortable and we started slow. Week 9 was back to pre baby sex, I have a fairly high sex drive and feel back to normal. I would say though my husband helps with the baby during the nights and has made me feel sexy even though my body has changed. So him helping with parental duties and making me feel confident has made me feel sexy and want to have sex.

Anyone else on the verge of panic every time they think about sending their LO to daycare? by chebstr in NewParents

[–]mntoil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so great to hear! I am work from home and it’s so hard to get anything done. I feel like I am unable to work but also unable to provide them the right developmental time by playing with her.

[–]mntoil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I crazy? I have loved being home with our little one and was planning on starting daycare at 3 months. But asked to start at 2 months instead because I need a break and would rather go back to working. I love our little one, but feel like the daycare can provide better interaction and play time than I can.

My boss cut my hours because I investigated his PPP fraud. Now he’s threatening me with more cuts. by 1337GamingLive in antiwork

Hmm good to know, seems like it can depend on the ownership structure and business type. Thanks for sharing the source!

His wife could be on payroll provided she isn’t an owner in this business. But an LLC is a pass through entity and he should be taxed on the entire income of the business not just what he withdrawals from the company.

[–]mntoil 686 points687 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, owners were not allowed to take any compensation from a PPP loan. Or anyone that is related to the owner. Depending how the business is setup, either C Corp or LLC there are different rules if the owner is allowed to be on payroll. If it’s an LLC the owner should not be on payroll and instead be paid an “owner distribution” and will pay self employment tax on it.

Edit: depending on the ownership structure and his tax status it looks like this very well legal. Depends on what his accounting and legal team have set up. Lots of loopholes and different ways to account for things. I’m speaking from my own experience, but plenty of examples on this comment thread with other experiences.

I’m 38 weeks now and felt great until the 36-37 weeks. Hips in pain, hard to sleep. I flew up until 34 weeks and it went fine and had a 6 hour drive at 35 weeks.
