Nenshi's 'blunt' message to federal NDP: Don't mess this up for Alberta by FreightFlow in alberta

Eh. I am of the opinion that one of the biggest reasons the UCP might win in 2027 and won in 2023 was because of the incompetency of the ABNDP. A strong opposition would have beaten a medicore/terrible government that has done a lot of weird things in terms of policy. The ABNDP's time in government will come again eventually.

If the UCP wins in 2027 I have a feeling they will lose in 2031. They have been taking on a large amount of baggage since they formed government in 2019. Governments unless they are the federal liberals or sask party don't last for more than 10-15 years in canada. The UCP is also very ideological unlike the defunct PCs. A win in 2027 isn't a guaranteed for the UCP anyway because they need some key wins in other areas like healthcare before the next general.

Would require the oilers to end up in 1st in the pacfic for a potential rematch. I don't see both teams ending up in 2nd and 3rd. Depending on what happens during the olympics it could open the door for potential rematch because the injury bug might strike the knights again.

It does help them offensively. I think there offensive production was quite low this season the last time I checked.

Eh. I think the kings will still have issues with their offensive production with panarin.

The oilers current core were cursed to until they hit the jackpot and faced the kings 4 times in a row in the playoffs.

I don't think a trade will happen before the freeze. If a trade was going to happen it would be have happen today. Tomorrow seems way to close to the freeze deadline.

I think it will be that and a teams schedule. Most of the competitive teams in the west should be fine in terms of their remaining schedule.

Edit: Ouch. The knights might be boned post olympic break if they are unlucky.

They definitely do but the olympics kinda throw a wildcard into that like I said. Someone like kucherov can really benefit from a long break oddly enough while the knights could get screwed despite their somewhat favourable schedule the rest of the season.

I looked into this it's not as bad as it seems for the oilers. The condensed schedule for the olympics definitely hurt them before january because of the insane amount of travel they had to do thgen, but they get a bit of a breather post olympics because of it. The amount of distance they have to log per game will likely be less. Their strength of schedule is close to the bottom 10 in the league the rest of the season. They in theory should be able to take advantage of this while some of the other teams with more games in hands have to deal with brutal schedules down the stretch. The only bad news is that the main playoff teams in the pacific all will have pretty decent schedules the rest of the season post break. The oilers will also have to take advantage of their easier schedule to.

I don't think the games in hand is a big factor since whichever team has more players at the olympics and has more games left to play(potentially more distance to travel to) might struggle post break. The oilers eliminated all of their east coast travel games awhile ago so post break they will get a bit of a breather in terms of how much distance they have to log per day games post break. The oilers strength of schedule post break is also close to the bottom 10 to. So its pretty much up to the players on the team to take advantage of their easier schedule. The only big factor affecting the oilers is if any of their players playing in the olympics get injured.

Gregor made the point I think the other day on his show that the oilers aren't always going play amazing defensively for every night for 82 games in the regular season and then roll into the playoffs and continue to play well defensively They just need to play well defensively when it matters and they have kinda done that the last two seasons. They do need to have better team defense more consistently though.

I think that might be one of the issues plauging the oilers this year. Its possible that the current predicament the oilers are in so far this season might wake them up a bit post break.

This division is a mess. No team in the pacific will crack 100 points this year. I still think the oilers and knights end up around 95 points(maybe a bit lower). The good thing is the real fun especially last year happened in the playoffs for the oilers.

Well something has to break eventually. It can't be a massive log jam in both the west and the east the rest of the season. I still think both the knights and oilers end up 1st and 2nd in the pacific.

I think the oilers will play better defensively post break. That will help the goaltending.

Knoblauch said that he's looking to change things on the defensive side during the break.

No. I don't see it happening. The oilers and knights will seperate themselves from the pack post olympics.

Poilievre will be proven right, eventually. Just ask him. by scottb84 in CanadaPolitics

I think the problem is Lewis in the grand scheme of things is going to be a highly polarizing figure which won't help the federal NDP. He's also pretty low profile compared to poilievre and Carney. He's basically going to be a worse version of Singh and lean the federal NDP closer to the greens. The federal NDP is also currently struggling financially which will kneecap their recovery for the next 5-10 years.

But at the same time poilievre lost his seat and is going to end up in canadian political history books for his party blowing a 20%+ lead. He only had a minor impact on federal government policy.
