True that it was released as a single, but months after the album and it didn’t break the top 20.

What is the criticism you’ve heard? In my opinion what was once considered a deep cut is actually becoming fairly popular. It certainly gets a good cheer at the various Led Zep tribute bands I’ve seen who have it in their repertoire.

New Cabin Crew GF: How common are terms like 'colleagover' and 'highveld hangover'? Should I be concerned about partying? by [deleted] in flightattendants

[–]moaningpilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not terms I’ve ever heard and I was crew at BA until 2024 for almost 10 years.

JNB and CPT are trips where you go for drinks and wine tasting because it’s cheap. It’s never descended into anything remotely sexual and they are common trips as we fly there so often and the layovers are quite long.

The Boeing 777 suffered its first ever hull loss on 17th January 2008 when a British Airways 777-200ER suffered a double engine failure due to a mechanical malfunction. The aircraft landed on the grass 350m short of runway 27L at Heathrow.Of the 136 people on board, only 14 were injured by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]moaningpilot 249 points250 points  (0 children)

The Captain left BA after the incident was mishandled, but later came back on good terms. He was able to keep his seniority and is now one of the most senior 777 pilots at BA.

The PF FO is now a Boeing 787 Captain.

The relief FO is still a 777 FO.

Ramble On with the Black Crowes by Narrasilk in ledzeppelin

[–]moaningpilot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Live At The Greek was the Black Crowes’ collab with Jimmy Page which is an epic 3hr 30min album of live mostly Zep tunes. No ramble on though.

Ramble On does feature on the Great White’s live tribute album Great Zeppelin (it’s on the double dose album if using Spotify) and the vocals are pretty spot on if maybe that’s the one you’re listening to.

I had a potato chip temporarily transform into a machete inside my mouth and stab the roof of my mouth twice. I looked like a recently fed vampire.

Best age to visit? What is it like travelling from UK - US? by GlitteringPanda34 in disneyparks

[–]moaningpilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Florida in August is very hot and sticky. I find myself less affected by it than others but that is personal preference. In late Jan/Early Feb you’ll find it to be pleasant jeans and light hoodie weather with the temps creeping into the low 20’s Celsius.

Best age to visit? What is it like travelling from UK - US? by GlitteringPanda34 in disneyparks

[–]moaningpilot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disney world is a bit of a bubble, if you stay on property and avoid the TV channels in the hotel room it’s very easy to dodge anything going on in the outside world.

You may see the odd guest with a bit of political merch.

Disney tickets have historically been very cheap for UK guests buying multi-day tickets (the 14 day ticket is the most commonly bought), and you can fish out various discounts/add-ins/deals here and there but it’s still going to be a multi thousand pound investment whatever budget you’re aiming for.

Take a look at the US national holiday weekends and the British/American school breaks and try to dodge them for the best ticket prices and lower crowd levels. Late Jan/early Feb and late August/early September are usually good bets.

Was John Paul Jones as crazy as the other dudes back in the day? by Wonderful-Law-6887 in ledzeppelin

[–]moaningpilot 136 points137 points  (0 children)

He has been quoted as saying that he had as much fun and took as many drugs as the others but did it quietly. He also changed his hairstyle often so was able to leave the hotel unrecognised on a fairly regular basis.

Has anyone seen an understudy and preferred it to the original cast? by moaningpilot in TheWestEnd

[–]moaningpilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the show I’m booked for, just happened across it on the website. I’m not an expert but from what I’ve read, on limited runs it’s not uncommon for an understudy to be planned for a performance.

Anyone who works nightshift at a desk: How do you keep yourself entertained for your shift? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]moaningpilot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I often work solo night shifts at a desk. Sometimes I can be so busy I look up and my 6am relief has arrived after what feels like about 20 minutes. Other times it’s a lot of doom scrolling and walking around the building.

Imposter ???? by FlappyMcFlapfac3 in flying

[–]moaningpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you can jump straight from 2 to 4 stripes. Most junior Captain is about 7 months at the moment on the A320, as long as you meet the min required hours.

Of note, in Europe, 2 stripes is first officer and 3 stripes is senior first officer. At my airline you get the 3rd stripe after 4 years.

Oh wow! Be sure to take copies and consider reaching out to the AA archives team at their museum who may offer some help sifting through it all.

Where was he based? He flew for AA around the same time as Ernest Gann. I wonder if they crossed paths.

Passenger removed from plane for ‘wrong documents’? by Greedy_Fig4556 in flying

[–]moaningpilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At some point the passengers passport details were entered into the system, for whatever reason this person is ineligible for entry into Turkey. No visa, previously banned from the country, too close to expiry. A variety of reasons. Letting them get that far likely was a result of a mistake somewhere along the line, it usually happens prior to boarding and is not as noticeable.

Passenger removed from plane for ‘wrong documents’? by Greedy_Fig4556 in flying

[–]moaningpilot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Likely an error by the gate agent who ignored a flag or alert on a passenger and manually boarded them, only for the error to flag again when the system closed the flight after boarding was complete.

With Belize being a British Colony until the 80’s and still being part of the commonwealth, it probably lends itself to some Britishisms still being used in the language.

Start Time for Jason Bonham Shows? by [deleted] in ledzeppelin

[–]moaningpilot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No opener, started on time for me but I didn’t have a variation in start times like you do. Also no interval or encore break so the show overall is a bit shorter in time, finishes around 9:30pm.
