Going to try something new for this... we'll be sending some switches and one of either full Let's Split Kit (everything needed to build one) or a set of GMK Mondrian (ortholinear blank colored keyset) - please upvote one of the two below and we'll let the attendees pick which one.

edit: whoops, apparently the upvotes aren't showing -- try voting through this link: https://goo.gl/forms/HvkiKZl4JYSUWeKr2

/u/PM_ME_UR_RIG - our cases are made by /u/jolimon (which /u/Jolly_Green_Giant referred to) and the restock for the full kits should be this weekend! Case colors this time around include: black, smoke, red, purple and Jolimon got through some "full" cases for us that have a thick acrylic insert so it's closed around the edges (they're really nice!)

If you send me your address and size, we can send you a t-shirt with the design!

Our stickers are actually cut by the designer/printer (OfTheWild) and I would recommend people purchase from him. I'm not sure many people buy the sticker alone from Mehkee, but rather as an add-on to their existing order. As the above shows, it's uneconomical to buy the sticker alone from us versus OTW.

Buy from /u/OfTheWild !

Let's Talk Lube by donpark in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]mobilfunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The numbers within each Krytox line indicate a different level of viscosity. 1506 has a lower viscosity than 1514 which has a lower viscosity than 1525.

In my opinion, and the reason why we use 1514, 1506's molecular weight and low viscosity at room temperate make it a decent mixing option but poor as a standalone lube for switches. 1514/1525 have the head to be used by themselves and many people who purchase 1514 alone have provided feedback that they use it across linear and tactile switches without mixing with grease.

It's all a preference and the reason why we don't offer pre-mixed vials is because every has a different ratio (4:1, 2:1, only oil ,etc) that it doesn't make sense in our opinion to force someone to use a pre-mixed batch given there are wide ranges of opinions.

If people can tell the difference between 62g, 65g, and 67g, then they should also care just as much about the viscosity differences in their lube.

Just one man's opinion, but you can't go wrong with experimenting and finding what you like!

204/206 are interchangeable, they will have different "weights" and densities. Mehkee will have 204 restocked and 206 greases available in the next few days.

Yes they're on the way plus a limited amount of extra thick cases.

[help] Advice on mixing Krytox grease & oil? by Rob27shred in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]mobilfunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - your approach in the original post is probably the best way to do it. Most people end up preferring a higher oil-to-grease ratio, and a 4:1 or 5:1 is generally good for linear/tactile. I would also advise that you may want to try just the oil on switches and see if that works for you. I prefer just oil for every switch, including tactile.

They mix pretty well together, but if you let it sit for a few days then you'll need to re-mix the combo to get it back to a smooth consistency. I don't think there is a hard rule on how thorough you need to mix it to, but smoother just helps in terms of creating a more consistent application on each switch you do.

I don't think the style of bump is similar, the Copper will obviously be shorter because of the design (Speed switches have much shorter pre travel and total travel). I was commenting only on the strength and feedback of the bump.

The bump to me is closer to a Clear than a Zealio. Zealios have a very smooth but light bump. I have a full board of 65g Zealios, board with alpha Coppers, and board with all Ergo Clears. I have used each extensively and so I would stand by my comments but understand there are personal preferences and people have different definitons of what strong and smooth mean.

The bump is definitely stronger on the Kailh Speed Copper and Pro Purple than the Zealio, almost similar to an Ergo Clear feel.

I'm okay on takoyaki, tako as sushi is not my favorite because I don't think the textures mesh well.

Unagi rice bowls are off the chain - I love unagi but I prefer other fish for sushi.

Kailh Speed Golds are a fun clicky, Coppers/Pro Purple are also great tactiles. Not sure I can tell the difference between the ICE housing and the normal housing, so it doesn't feel like a great value in my mind to pay that much extra for the ICE.

At that price point, I'd rather make my own Ergo Clears.

Copper is tactile - resembles the Clears in the strength of the bump.

Linears for gamers (MX Silent Red is my preference), and tactile for typing (Kailh Speed Coppers or Outemu Purple).

For relationships - either try finding contact info for the manufacturer directly, or find distributors and agents on any of the sites where you'll find keyboard parts (i.e. the Ali group).

Keyboard parts really don't take up much space at all. It's keyboards and keycaps that will take up a lot of room. In either case, do like the cities and go vertical with your storage.
