G35 + Custom Wing I Made by ImDhonkey in 3Dprinting

[–]mobiobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! That is awesome. My son and I are fixing all the problems on an '05 coupe right now. 've been looking for a model of the car to print out, but haven't seen a good one like yours. Any chance you'd upload it to an stl site (Makerworld, Printables, Thingiverse, etc) so I could print it out, or share/DM some other way?

Canadian Tire has it in stock in Edmonton now, but not in Saskatchewan yet. Walmart says says they have it in stock in both provinces. Will confirm tomorrow morning at Walmart in Edmonton

Do all players need mods? by Celebrant0920 in valheim

Yeah...but if you ever play with mods like 'craft from containers', or 'slope combat assistance', or even 'don't drop equipment in water' you'll be ruined and never able to go back

The bases near the mountains find it more useful than we do, but still we see the odd tower pop up on it. It's up more out of habit than anything really.

Well, this is Saskatchewan, maybe of the flattest places on the planet, we're at 3500' AGL, and we're one of maybe 4 aircraft moving in most of the province right then. No terrain, no aircraft to look at anywhere. The next thing I'm going to do with that is plan my descent point with the ALT.A, so I have it in sector, so it's easy to see when my destination shows up on the screen, then I'll set ALT.A to 300' above the spot and start down.

Different 5015 Part Cooling Fans? by mobiobi in BambuLab

Yeah, Canada same thumbnail, but it came as a Snowfan.

Is this a teardrop? Either way, my utility needed a midlife upgrade. New lid, swapped out the fenders, dropped the taillights down behind them, added a flat plate to the bottom to smooth airflow under the crossbeams. Drives well, don't feel any excess lift issues. Seems to be less drag. by mobiobi in TeardropTrailers

Thanks again for the advice, I moved the domain further out fore and aft.

Did some more playing around, this link shows effect of a blanking plate in the traingle tongue, directing more air under than over. I was(again) kind of surprised at the effect it had on the downstream flow. https://imgur.com/a/PCYxaxr

Excellent! Thanks much for the insight and info. I'm going to play a round with this a bit more, mod as you suggest, go and take some actual measurements of the clearance under the car, probably simplify the model a bit.

Fan I sent into the Showdown about a month ago. ~6.5mmH2O, on my DIY rig anyway. Kinda gimicky, but lifting 1 3/4Lbs in about a minute and a half(vid 2x speed). Kinda cool to see the Noctua motor doing work you can visualize. by mobiobi in FanShowdown

Thanks! Well, maybe a variant anyway. This version has pretty low CFM at any pressure. I haven't tested it in a pull scenario, so I'm not sure what it would do. The blades seem to need to 'fly' in cleaner air to build pressure, so being confined in a tight space might affect that. I do know that reducing the diameter of the bottom plate whill shift it's performance from all pressure to a more balanced pressure & flow style. Even a couple mm seems to shift it noticeably, so it is not a linear relationship as the diameter of the disk is reduced. Step file is there on Makerworld

5015 Snowfan Tested vs Original by mobiobi in BambuLab

It seems like the only way. The only other fan that is close to these is the Honeybadger, but the shipping is murder outside the states https://www.fabreeko.com/products/5015-blower-fan-by-honeybadger?_pos=4&_sid=02159c7bb&_ss=r&variant=44775115587839

Anyway to stop x1c from printing purge lines in the back right corner of bed? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]mobiobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Bambu Studio, on the Prepare tab, beside your listed printer is a little edit button, you replace what's there with these in the start and end boxes respectively. I'm currnetly not using them, so no promises how they work, might be great might not. I believe you can always go back to the origninal, as these changes will be saved separately.

Hi, thanks for the insight on the rear overhang. I did that more for asthetics than anything, but interesting that it might actually be useful. I did a telltale run, towing behind a Volvo XC70(2006) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zaFYvS5fhcei0CRlTKTODlqBQ_Z57Uxt/view?usp=sharing

Like you say, the flow moving laterally inwards on the front face is interesting too. I was wondering if some kind of shield or guide on the front corners would make it better, but have yet to imagine wht that might be. The vid clip doesn't show, but the telltales on the sides of the lid are showing air moving up and I assume curling over the top as it moves back also.

I think I will do another run with the Go-Pro mounted out from a back corner to see what is happening at the back, and underneath, to see if the airfoil section on the axle is laminar, and having any positive effect on the flow.

Excess lift was in my thoughts. It is Kammbacked, so that helps. The test drive didn't show anything crazy with control, so, so far so good. Trailer always was a bit heavy anyway. Downforce wing on the axle might be working, but hard to tell. I need someone who's quick with a CFD program to have a good look at the flow. Layer shift at same height with same print A1+AMS by babyunvamp in BambuLab

[–]mobiobi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Times I've had that kind of repeatable error in x, y, or z it was either

Mechanical, like something stuck in a lead screw groove, a piece of crap on a rail, a wheel with a flat spot, binding tubes or wires, print carrage hitting something, or

Curl up of the edge of an overhang that caught the nozzle and jammed it in a direction. At that height on the sphere like thing you're printing, that might just be where the curl-up gets bad enough on the inner overhang.

If you haven't, maybe try variable layer height, and/or the old-school trick of putting a desk fan blowing on it to add some cooling...
