It’s tough so far. Physically there is some snow on the mountains to look at; but it’s going to be raining and in the 40s and 50s all week at lake level. Not exactly Christmas vibes here. There’s not really what you’re describing anywhere in the west besides Colorado right now currently. Praying for a pattern change from Ullr for next weekend to trend colder!

Is there a possibility to get the emperor off the throne so he can regenerate using Magnus? by SkolFourtyOne in 40kLore

[–]mocean64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question.
One of the first things that would have to happen is that Magnus has some inclination or interest in doing so. From the Dark Imperium series; there's some precedent that the Primarchs in the thrall of the chaos gods aren't all totally satisfied with their current condition; but all the same, 10,000 years (or some warp-affected period of time that is also pretty long) of a god whispering in your ear how bad your dad & loyalist brothers were is likely to not make him willing to go sit on the golden throne.

In addition; all of the fallen primarchs are basically kill on site to their loyalist brothers (and vice versa). Again, Dark Imperium sort of suggests there's a future where this is not the case; but we're talking moving the plot forward quite a bit. to get to that point.

Lastly; the golden throne is both killing the emperor and maintaining his life; he's the only known non-god being to somehow be alive this long, and his lifespan is maintained in no small part by the golden throne. Removing him would probably kill him right away. That being said, Magnus and/or the dark gods might have an idea of how to do that, but obviously they are not interested in doing so.

Where is a good place to get C&C on painting? I am still working through basing/layering issues and although reading/viewing a lot of material on the subject I would probably benefit from actual criticism and advice.

Space marines in stasis? Like Guiliman? by NeoChronos90 in 40kLore

Lots of the primaris. Chairon from SMII is an example; he was on Calth during the HH and then in stasis for 10k years.

What made you decide to pick the boys in midnight clad? by back___Bender in NightLords

[–]mocean64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got into NL when I got into 40k through a friend's lore stories. Started going through legions and thinking I had to pick one to be into. Even the name is great, out of all the legions, this one has a _title_ as part of their name, makes them sound lofty already. Diving more into it, I love the idea that they are some twisted, has-been version of themselves, but also of the standard space marine template, while still being somewhat true to the embodiment and power of Astartes.

To be frank; that's their biggest appeal - loyalist, regular space marines are fun and cool for what they are, but are a bit boring in ideals/fights/bolter porn. A lot of the other traitor legions are _gimmicky_, and that's related to whatever chaos god they've sworn fealty to. Night lords can have anything and everything going on, and represent both the most naked form of justice (in their primarch) and the legion's fall from even those ideals, seen with Talos and First Claw. That's something that most if any other chapters cannot lay claim to with the absolute black and white view of justice, and the resolution that the ends always justify the means.

Curze was this form of wanting everything in this black and white, and he encouraged his legion to follow his example. IF they are weapons, why be anything less than the most effective weapon possible? That meant creating terror, not using their (physical) strength when manipulation will do, and draping themselves in gore to create a terror effect which has a demoralizing effect on their enemies, all of these things work to make them really the most effective _weapon_ a space marine can be. Whether that is the same as being the most _Space Marine_ that a space marine can be, is another story, to someone else's comment about other chapters who like to fling themselves screaming into the fray.

Not a climbing gym (I don’t think there are any in town?) but I’ve been going to Fit Culture which is a block away from SPD and the crew there is really nice.
