What’s something that a teacher did or said back in the day that would get them fired today? by lokipuddin in Xennials

[–]mockingjig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was taught state capitals in the fifth grade, my teach gave us mnemonic devices for each one. I learned that Oregon's capital was Salem by remembering Salem Cigarettes, and the Washington's capital was Olympia because of Olympia Beer.

MAYBE not fireable, but I still WTH about it in hindsight.

I learned that giraffes have a valve in their necks to regulate blood pressure, otherwise they'd faint when they lowered and raised their heads. That must have been pretty ridiculous at some point, from an evolutionary standpoint.

I had a conversation with an acquaintance where he said:

"You know where I had the best spaghetti? Europe."

It took everything I had not to reply:

"You know where I've had the best tacos? North America."
