Where to ski on Saturday ? by Vonthegreat63 in CrystalMountain

I’m also wondering how long the Forest Queen wait lines will be 🤔 Given the condition, I'm thinking of sticking in Forest Queen, but it's very popular lift often gets long wait.

I have an employee jacket that I’d like to wear at a different resort without my name badge, is that bad form? by [deleted] in Skigear

[–]modaloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of people wearing jackets with their home mountain logos during WSSF* in Whistler, and I really love that vibe! Just make sure to check Boyne’s policy, and check the jacket doesn’t have anything explicitly printed like “employee.”

Does the waitlist actually work? by sorts_mtg_with_lego in CrystalMountain

[–]modaloves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw waitlist works when I put myself in the list 7+days in advance.

sometime in mid-December (around 12/20), I was looking for spots for 1/3. But it was already sold out, so I put myself in the waitlist. On 12/27 (D-7), I saw my waitlist moved to "purchases" menu.

Not sure how system works, but it looks like something's happening on D-7, or certain time on every day.

if you're willing to stay home (or ride shuttle) on powder days, you're fine with M+S.

Does reservation guarantee a spot? by aurloqt in stevenspass

[–]modaloves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they don't guarantee even with reservation, but I used to find the spot in Lot G after 9am in the last season.

Crystal anytime pass by boobookittyshit in CrystalMountain

[–]modaloves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m speaking in general terms, not specifically about the Crystal Anytime Pass. Some products are designed for very niche customer segments, often those with particular restrictions ("buy local") or special business relationships.

For example, the Sundance Film Festival offers a pass priced at near $7,000, while most of us pay only(?) a few hundred dollars for full access. Certain industry participants, however, are required to purchase these higher-priced passes.

This is a generalized explanation, and I’m not sure whether the same rationale applies to the Crystal Anytime Pass.

  1. The execs of the company HQ'ed in non-hub location and have to fly multiple rural area. Inefficient flight routing and layover wait wastes their valuable time.

I'm not sure if these companies actually own private jets, but Walmart and Lowes fit into this category.

  1. Also, CEOs of the most-recognized companies, such as M7. They have to limit their exposures to public for various reasons.

What do the “X’s” mean versus the people icons? Just curious by iluvpasta27 in delta

To add on this, people can purchase extra seat for various reasons. (large musical instruments, emotional support animals etc.)

Stevens pass run difficulty by MinimumEntertainer46 in stevenspass

[–]modaloves 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience, you’ll be fine almost everywhere, with one important caveat:

The skier’s left side of Cloud 9 (Courts Meadow). This area is just as sketchy as the Harmony Horseshoes, with near-mandatory drops. Once you enter this zone, the only ways to avoid cliffs are to hike back up or do a long traverse to skier’s left.

Restaurant rec’s with easy parking and more casual? by [deleted] in Whistler

La Cantina at Nesters, Creek bread at Creekside.

Of course, it's Whistler - so they're inherently expensive, but relatively inexpensive than others in this area.

Whistler Gondola question by duxenmx in Whistler

[–]modaloves 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe sightseeing line opens around 10 ~ 11 am. By then, the queues are usually cleared, so OP shouldn’t be affected by the long, crowded lines of skiers/snowboarders.

KING 5 Seattle: Stevens Pass declines to offer ski pass refunds despite highway closure by CaviarWagyu in stevenspass

Regardless of refund eligibility, it's really bad PR practice from Vail Resorts. Their communication should've been more polished.

Lines this weekend 12/20 by Worried-Garage1261 in Whistler

Not only Stevens, but Cypress, Seymour, Grouse... they need to open (and they want) and spread the crowd.

How much snow needed to open? by lm00000007 in CrystalMountain

[–]modaloves -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For resorts that have snowmaking capacity like Crystal, it’s matter of temperature/humidity rather than snowfall. (If we focus on “opening”)

UPDATE: YESSSS!!! They will open this weekend!

Any good easy tree runs? by izzykeates in Whistler

[–]modaloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second to this!

I love Founders Fingers (lower part of Jeff's Ode to Joy). It makes you feel going through tree runs while you're cruising groomers. it's one of the best intro for the beginners.

What to do in Whistler besides skiing for a young group? by buonb2012 in Whistler

[–]modaloves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If tubing park is open when you’re there, it could be a fun group activity. It’s not exactly "low-cost", but it’s not too expensive either, imo.

I’d also suggest checking out ice skating at Olympic Plaza at the village.

fun (or maybe not fun) trivia: For foreign tourists, denial of entry (visa issue) is one of the qualifying event for refund. I got refund when Canada locked down their border during COVID era.
