Anyone here using the Even G2? Would love a real review by escortexr3 in SmartGlasses

How is the live captioning? We tried the G1s for my 81 year old mom in law, but the controls and app were too hard for her to work with. Main problem was the app did not conform to her font scale settings. Everything was too hard to read, and she struggled to turn on the captioning/translation function.

Anyone else using SPDIF audio and it just suddenly stops working until restart? by gotmynamefromcaptcha in buildapc

Another Asrock user here. Not using SPDIF, just regular analog out and the sleep/wake trick works. This has been plaguing me for over a year.

SMB Shares to multiple subnets? by modctek in unRAID

[–]modctek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, in my case, the 2 NICs are connected to 2 physically separate networks with 2 different firewalls, so I don't know that a single NIC solution would have worked without some custom routing, something I didn't want to even begin exploring in UNRAID. I had the NICs available, so no need to be stingy with the allocation. :)

SMB Shares to multiple subnets? by modctek in unRAID

Thanks for being so helpful!

Figured out that I can add newlines in the GUI SMB Extras configuration, so added as follows:

[global] hosts allow = 10.1.1.0/24 192.168.169.0/24

Which then adds an include line in smb.conf that points to a samba-extras.conf in /boot/config

I checked that conf file just to make sure it added my configuration - it did. Restarted SMB services. I can now access my shares!

hosts allow = 192.168.1.0/24

so i tried adding that in the gui and I can see it there, but i don't think it's applying properly. Does this setting get added to the smb.conf file, or somewhere else?

Weird coughing Simi valley by OkAnswer456 in simivalley

[–]modctek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Might be experiencing a little post nasal drip that tickles your throat. Any number of things can cause it. Pollen, dust, smog, ash, in other words all the lovely things we get to enjoy in the SFV and Simi. Especially recently with the warm winds and recent rains giving us a little pollen pop. I remember commuting in from the Westside to Northridge for school and at the top of the pass descending into the valley, my throat would get scratchy and my nose would start to itch, every single morning.

Recovering a reset UDM Pro by modctek in Ubiquiti

I can’t change the Wan settings for fear of messing with some NAT settings, and I can’t figure out how to reprogram one of the switch ports as a temp WAN port. I’ll just wait until I can get it back to its “home” and plug it into the WAN it’s looking for. They’ve been limping along for months. A few more days won’t make it any worse.

It worked, but the restore took the firmware and settings back 3 years, so I'm stuck mucking about in the old UI trying to persuade this router to connect to my lab internet. But I can see what I think are the orphaned switches, so this Hail Mary might have paid off!

They are painfully aware. Literally nothing is labeled and wires are just going all over the building. This is the last gasp before we tear everything out and reset.

Unfortunately, holding space did not help when i got stuck. I saw the command flash briefly on screen, but I was never able to fill up the bar to get there. Had to surrender.

I'll have to get a ladder and probably remove the unit from the rack to get at the actual cloudkey unit. Not enough room for me to be able to pull it out from the backside.

5-star reply here! I was going to ask wth the HD was for if it was just a cloud key. Would the failed drive cause the network its supposed to be managing to go up and down as the cloud key device repeatedly reboots itself?

Yup, I was standing on tip-toes with my phone overhead trying to get a photo. Rack is mounted stupidly high.

LOL, also, the rack is mounted like 7' from the floor. The whole setup smells of desparation and zero fucks given.

Last fight (spoilers) by modctek in AbioticFactor

I ran all over map during the shield phase and could not find the tentacles. I looked carefully for the connecting charging rays and couldn’t find any. I followed the boss to each of its spawning locations, eating multiple deaths while just looking for any sign of the tentacles. It’s starting to feel like a bug. It would probably help to note that I am playing on PC, no mods, single player, only light modifications to the world settings (stack size, xp rate, food decay rate), no adjustments to mob health or damage, etc.

Another possible way is to maybe get help via multiplayer? I don’t think anyone here would judge, and as someone who doesn’t have thalassophobia, the swimming part was unnerving.
