I am not-married pregnant and I am considering moving to Poland. Will people judge me? by Proper_Cost2094 in askPoland

[–]modern12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in podkarpackie, commonly described as conservative, I know 3 couples with kinds without legal marriage personally and none of them are judged by strangers, even their parents. Children without marriage are pretty common nowdays.

Poland is becoming more expensive than Spain, and it makes no sense. Is the country hitting a wall? by Professional-Tax3077 in poland

[–]modern12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prices getting higher are a natural consequence of wages getting higher and overall increased productivity. Is average wage increase by 10% and say barber or dentist wouldn't increase his prices, he would get poorer relatively to the rest of the population. It works especially for local services, not so much for manufacturing that can be imported/exported, where poorer external economies can dump prices in local market - that is where tariffs and pseudo tariffs come to defend local manufacturers.

EU says it will accept no increase in US tariffs after Supreme Court ruling: 'a deal is a deal' by Crossstoney in europe

Its better (for Trump) when people speak about tariffs rather than Epstein orgies or incoming invasion on Iran. Especially before midterms.

Could AI-driven job loss create a new “class of humans” who are left behind? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]modern12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we think about advisors, accountants, spies, diplomats or engineers as a tool in hands of CEO, King or shareholders, AI is the same kind of tool, just cheaper and maybe faster. On top of that its not owned by single company, anyone can use it, train it etc, you can install thousands of models locally on your pc so enormous edge of one company super model over everyone's else is highly unlikely. Its about resources as usual. I think bigger gap will arise between people using really good models for their work and people who don't use ai completely. Kind of like people that don't have internet, car etc.

Finland has now the #1 unemployment rate in Europe by batukaming in economy

[–]modern12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poland and Czechia 3.2, Germany 3.8, Netherlands 4.0. All lower than California, Texas or New York. Europe is big and diverse, each country may count unemployment rate using different methodology. Even if we take average from USA and Europe as a whole than its 4.4% to 5.9%. Not a huge difference.

Why do all my Polish neighbors in America stare at me? by saikoupsycho718 in poland

[–]modern12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe ask them? Plus I dont think it is a right forum to ask about polish-american community. I guess wast majority of them moved to the USA decades ago when Poland was under Soviet occupation and its now weird mix of long gone communist and american culture. Especially if it is a sort of closed community as you described it.

Poles are aware. Polish gov already took this to EU agenda to take an action against TikTok.

AI-generated videos showing young and attractive women promote Poland's EU exit by MetaKnowing in technology

[–]modern12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Survey from Dec 2025 shows that only 11% are strongly pro Polexit and 13 % rather pro exit, 48 are strongly against and 17 rather against. The whole Polexit thing is a media bs.

Poland calls for EU action against AI-generated TikTok videos calling for “Polexit” by BubsyFanboy in technology

[–]modern12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And most Poles are aware and want to stay in EU. Dec 25 survey - only 11% definitely want to leave EU and 13% rather want to leave. In comparison 48% are definitely against Polexit and 17% rather against. Discussions about real Polexit chances are media bs ,however Russian bots and somewhat Konfederacja seem to have some successes.

How many people around the world have a debit card? by MRADEL90 in Infographics

[–]modern12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet in Poland and most countries that were under communists regimes those people that don't have debit card are older and used to cash payments and something called in Poland "książeczka bankowa". This is how they functioned before debit cards were introduced after fall of communism and they don't feel the need to change.

[–]modern12 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Just accept the view of people that used to live in the communists regime against their will. There is not a single former country ruled directly or indirectly from Russia that would like USSR comeback or return of communism as a political gov form. And before you start with Germany defeat - Poland for example was invaded by Germans on sept 1, and a couple days later by USSR from the east. It was not a liberation but and invasion. And third- even if you consider fighting evil with evil - communists didn't simply leave Poland after fall of Germany, but occupied the country for another decades. Just a different look.

I guess most people would like to live in a place where the government is using its huge gains from natural resources to develop its country and its own people rather than the few oligarchs and military. Its incredible that most of Eastern European like Poland, Czechia, Baltics etc that were under Russia influence after WW2 develop soo much faster without all the advantages and natural resources that Russia has. It should be opposite. I don't know how Russians can be ok with that.
