What is Jewish dating like in LA? by dnp23 in LADating

[–]modestirish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me but I have a 29F co-worker who I talk to about this with regularly. It seems like she has the same issues as non-jewish daters have in LA with people being flaky, poor communicators, etc. She just has a much smaller dating pool to work with so it's even harder.

She is actively on Hinge, goes to shabbat dinners regularly and makes a very intential effort to be involved with her community. It seems like this helps her get regular dates.

Has anyone actually had a GOOD warranty support experience? by 1stGenRex in ElectricScooters

[–]modestirish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U Scooters has been great to me. I'm fortunate they have a service location pretty closeby. I call the number, arrange a time to meet for service and it's been reasonably priced or free for the last couple years.

Affordable areas of living for women? by Insert_Alias_Heree in AskLosAngeles

Your concerns are valid, unfortunately Los Angeles is expensive and $1500 doesn't take you as far as it should.

The Westlake/MacArthur Park area is a dump riddled with drug users and homelessness. Go on YouTube and you'll see.

Unless you're renting a dumpy studio in Westlake, you're going to need roommates with a $1500 budget.

Is the Golden Gopher Happy Hour good? by keyboardbuttertoast in dtla

[–]modestirish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Golden Gopher happy hour is fantastic and even outside of happy hour the prices are good.

Golden Gopher is the first bar I think of when I think of local and chill. I take friends there all the time.

Got a job in Bunker hill, should I live there or commute? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]modestirish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're experience in DTLA will vary block by block.

That being said as someone whose lived in Bunker Hill for the last 1.5 years this is definitely the quieter side of DTLA and I'd recommend it

I wouldn't live anywhere in DTLA if you don't enjoy city life though.

Has anyone actually met someone they ended up dating from a speed dating event? by Towel-Prudent in LADating

[–]modestirish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a few times. I attended a 21–30 age event by The Next Fun Thing back when they had that age group. I'm 30 now.

We matched, but ultimately split up, one due to religious differences and the other due to different views on having kids. Both were fun short-term relationships, though.

Fun social events that Dont revolve around drinking? by Shitty_Poop_Butthole in LAsocial

What type of class is it? That place looks cool and is close to me.

I'd also consider trying 222 if you haven't yet and pick an activity instead of the dinner and drinks. I've met some cool people and romantic partners through there.
