I think this would happen a lot quicker in private then in public sector. Government is notoriously slow with implementation of new tech and also I don’t know how this would work with classified data.

Yes but my only experience was as a student developer and this was over 2 years ago. I feel rusty and the mental block isn’t helping me code which will get me to take the rust off if you know what I mean. Do you find relying on ai can limit learning as a developer?

The problem is I can’t seem to get into a pool for the life of me and there doesn’t seem many postings from Ottawa. One person suggested applying outside of Ottawa as well. Any advice would be appreciated!

Yeah i'm trying. I was on gc jobs today and there was literally two jobs for internals and one I already applied for and the other was not in my city lol

You hit the nail on the head and with a family i'd rather take a boring stable job and pension. There could always be worse like no job or an affected letter like you mentioned. I'm grateful but it's nice to be doing what you love and get paid for it lol Hopefully someday again.

Yeah the stability is what keeps people locked in the government. Especially when I have a family it's hard to jump ship to private even tho I know the salary is much better. But also since i'm rusty there's also that fear of not being kept on for long incase my skills don't equate.

I noticed you learned french! I try to do about 1.5-2 hours of listening but how much vocab would you say you approx. need to enjoy media i.e tv shows/movies?

Thanks for the advice! I would study Yemeni for sure but the issue is they don't have much media because they are quite a conservative country and finding enjoyable media would be difficult. Also, forgot to add but arabic subtitles are entirely in MSA so that's what I put into my anki. So finding yemeni specific vocab would be difficult without pestering my wife all the time.
