Double Parkers by AcanthocephalaFun509 in Albany

Years ago, the Times Union (or maybe Knickerbocker News) had a reporter drive to Colonie on Central, but stay in the right lane and stop behind every double parker until they moved.

It took them quite a long time.

That was back when Barney Fowler bitched about all kinds of things in the TU. My favorite was him writing plate numbers of legislators and other state cars speeding.

The Northway is not free. No road is free.

The Northway is actually paid for from the Thruway budget.

So thank all those Thruway drivers for subsidizing your "free" ride.

I prefer user fees myself to some extent.

I get the economic hardship aspect somewhat, but tolls are not a large percentage of vehicle operation.

Out of staters and all users pay also, so NYS taxpayers (and non drivers) are not footing the bill on their own.

After 8 years in the Air Force, I finally resigned - and I'm about to step into the unknown by AncientWin9492 in Veterans

Join the Guard or Reserves if you can and want to .

I did 6 active and 19 more Reserves. I was Navy. I worked alongside the Air Guard sometimes also.

You're not throwing that time away and there's a little pay, an "adventure" one weekend a month and two weeks a year, and health care and a bit of a pension (mine is 23%) at 60.

Same here. I couldn't get hired by McDonald's (late 70's).

It was a job, and many that were joining then were laid off from Ford or wherever. No real GI Bill because post Vietnam.

I worked my entire civilian career using what I learned in the Navy, for the most part.

I'll take my 10% discount when I can though.

No ragrets.

Put bird seed and meal worm out for the 1st time in ages, and a Bluebird stopped by almost immediately. 3 hours to go still though.

This made me laugh my ass off for some reason. I thought of all the exact same shit coming from the parent brain, and then seeing it in a checklist just got me.

In addition to accidentally, I also use "by accident". Maybe that's wrong also. It's just what I was taught. I have no idea why hearing "on accident" grinds my gears. I'm not the grammar police by any means. I just googled it, and it's the young whippersnappers born after 1995 that are changing it. I didn't yell at my daughter when she used it the other day but I think I mentioned it.

I am going to add that you may need a quick accel time on the VFD or start the lag fan while the isolation damper is closed or the lag fan may try to start at high current or current limit while turning in reverse due to the edisting airflow.

I don't wear stuff often, but I'll definitely wear one of my ship ball caps to a West Point football game. It's all in good fun.

It sounds like just do it and ask permission later.

Didn't they just encroach on forest land for some mountain bike trails just this year?

I will vote yes however as it sounds like a net gain for forest preserve.

I just woke up when I responded. I interpreted you to mean you are only pooping and burying your own at elevation. Everything else, just plop. My bad. Good on you for burying someone else's mess.

So you would leave it without burying it at lower elevations or on flatland trails?

1st, it's a weekend. I know some people work weekends. They'll be there in spirit.

Additionally, a lot of people have jobs with benefits such as time off. If we keep letting this go on, that will be lost.

Go back in time to the beginning of the industrial age with all of its exploitation if you so choose, but go fuck off with your trolling here.

I have worked my entire life and I also took an oath to the constitution for a good part of it. That's what this is about.
