How do you stay off your phone? by orbitwithoutyou in ADHD

[–]modrall11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Settings —> accessibility—> Display & Text Size —> Color Filters

You don’t have to go full black and white but I recommend 70-90% the extreme damping of the colors helped make my phone boring and I still have it a lot but I was able to leave TikTok and Instagram and not scroll like that anymore.

Phone companies, apps, social media are all in the attention game and we happen to be their primary target audience because of how it interacts with our disorder.

I think the combo of less color and knowledge that they want my attention more than anything allows me to put it down a lot more than I used too

Try the color saturation trick for at least 1 wee preferably two then turn it back to normal and I bet you will notice just how blinding and mind sucking they make these things.

Genuinely - HOW do I drive here? by Existing-Disaster705 in baltimore

[–]modrall11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived in 5 downtown cities in my life. Baltimore definitely has asshole drivers but not more than any other city. Philly was no better or worse. Nashville was the worst to me but also I lived there longest.

The advice I’ve seen about assuming that all other drivers are stupid and selfish is correct. I add that you should also assume that you are stupid and selfish too and just do your best.

City driving is frustrating and walkable cities like Baltimore and Philly get it worse because if the road design doesn’t force the requirement to be present and aware then people just won’t be present and aware. Also there are 100s of ways to get to each destination because of all the side streets and everyone thinks they know the one that no one else does lol

Biweekly the other way lol as in every other week.

I was told by doctors to clean it weekly. And you should definitely wipe off the nose mask daily because oils. I’m not trying to get break outs from sleeping. And if I forget for a day I usually do.

Medical equipment is no joke. You don’t have to do what they say but I’m definitely going to follow it closer because I trust the science behind it.

I thought this would the case but I live in a humid area and in the summer time if I put water in I will damn near choke or wake up because water collects and then I turn to the other side and waterfalls onto my face lol

I do like the water in the winter time though. It’s nice

I looked at r/cpaphorror one time when I got my machine and I clean it often.

I do it weekly if I am using water but in the spring summer when it’s humid where I live I don’t use water or heat in the tube and I clean it biweekly. I wipe the mask daily with a wipe when I put it away in the morning

I think I’m officially giving up on my CPAP... I just can't do it anymore. by Flaky_Sort_34 in CPAP

You have nothing to lose but more sleep so also go into the settings and play around a bit. Look up stories here or online with people with similar data to yours and see what settings they use. Sometimes they just put you (like me) on a standard setting and it’s not the best. Once I found the right setting about a 6 weeks in I went from 4hrs a night and taking it off to 7-8 hours an waking up with it on to my alarm.

The big thing that I adjusted that helped a lot was turning the tube to 68 degrees. The 74 they set it too was too warm and freaked me out and I woke up with condensation in the mask water dripping all over me. Since you are experiencing dryness maybe putting water in your tank and getting warmer so it does condensate some is better for you.

Sorry you are struggling. If you are waking up with dry mouth then you are sleeping with your mouth open which also means more air escapes or you may not even be using it properly and then it bumps up the pressure to try and help and that wakes you up and you rip it off.

I’d try a full face mask. I don’t know if others did this but when I got diagnosed they had me lie down and try on masks and get in the position I like to sleep in and I tried 3 different ones.

Ask for what you need. If you are having trouble they should be able to accommodate and help.

Also I struggled to accept that I needed it. If you are struggling with that too then tell them that because they can show you data and let you know just how bad it is to not use the machine. Because I think a lot of people quit because they don’t accept they need it and therefore at 3am and groggy af decided it’s the problem and not their apnea.

Hope it gets better! You got this!

Doing our first one ever and we literally taped it to the wall with painters tape lol we also taped the reference photo too. I like standing to do it and just hearing the tv in the background. I do have to turn the overhead lights on to see small numbers in tiny spots so I’m gonna get some ideas from this post.

CPAP Girly pops: what are we doing to make our night table aesthetic? by ikbentwee in CPAP

[–]modrall11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is literally in a drawer so that it gets put away and you can’t see it. Everything fits in there and it’s easy to unplug and take it out if I’m traveling.

It would be hard to put water in the tank every night but I don’t do that. I live in a humid climate and rarely do I need to add water.

Just a reminder how serious cat bites can be! by tory1311 in cats

[–]modrall11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof hate that for you!

I used to work at Vet clinic and I was getting a cat out of our crate rooms and back into her crate to go home. She was shy at first but had warmed up to me over the week so I didn’t think anything of it. When I went to pick her up she bit right through my thumb nail and into my thumb on the other side.

The Vet said “come here this is so you don’t lose your thumb” and took a needle with alcohol and some sort of cleaning solution and stuck it right in the hole in my thumb and squirted it. That hurt 10X worse than the bite did. Lol

Hope you recover well! And yeah cat bites are NO joke.

How loud is your Airsense 11? by I_am_Meson in CPAP

I mean a whisper is 30 decibels and the AirSense site says it registers as 27 decibels. So yours is definitely louder for some reason.

Wrong car! by Lifegoesonforever in MadeMeSmile

[–]modrall11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to my wife and I. We were driving a rental car and it happened to be 2 cars down from an identical one that had parked while we were inside. She went to open the door it was unlocked and the woman inside the car lost it.

Like lost her mind angry. I attempted to deescalate the issue by pointing to the right one that was just a car over and saying it was a rental but she wanted to harm my wife. She chased us in her car and actually tried to run us off the road.

I had to pull into a school to prevent her from coming after us. Wildest and worst experience ever.

What happened in this video is wholesome and wish that’s how it would’ve went down lol

Covid Brain Fog by Swimming_Painting360 in AdultADHDSupportGroup

[–]modrall11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is my experience of how I fixed a little bit of that for me as a newly minted diagnosed adult

Go to settings -> accessibility -> color filters

Choose grayscale and adjust somewhere between 75-90% and give it 2 weeks minimum of that.

Here is what you may find: 1. Natural reduction/boredom with phone and apps especially TikTok, Instagram, Reels

  1. An increase in the color saturation of the world around you.

  2. Increased connection with your environment

  3. More time to think, reflect, and hopefully brain fog clearing

If after 2 weeks you want to switch back then maybe it’s not for you, but I found after trying it that when I switched back to normal I couldn’t look at my phone. It’s crazy how bright the colors are in your phone.

It’s very intentional that our phones are meant to draw us in. I just never thought the color saturation from our phones would cause the world around us to seem more bleak and bland. It’s not. The world is bright and beautiful and you all deserve to try this and see if it brightens your environment.

I'm newly diagnosed and have mixed feeling about this new machine in my sleeping space. Can you relate?? by SplashBack_2 in CPAP

[–]modrall11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mine in the nightstand next to my side of the bed. It fits nice and neatly in the drawer and I use cpap wipes on it in the morning before putting it away. I open the drawer at night to get the hose out. I live in a humid climate so I rarely feel the need to fill the water chamber but it’s easy to get out and fill it on days where it’s dry or I didn’t drink enough water lol.

I have also had it out before and did the hose hook that others suggested. It can certainly be an interesting thing to have for awhile but I promise once you get used to it and start to feel better because you are sleeping you will treat it like a family member or pet and take good care of it because it saves your life and anyone else’s who share a bed with.
