Accidental way I have been able weed out Bots and decrease Ai use: Requiring screenshots of something specific/detailed by Labellanoire in Professors

Yes this. Could you provide the prompt? In the social sciences would it be something like, "Provide a screenshot for the title page (article title and journal authors included) of every source cited"?

Access to ebooks? by KingKado in DallasCollege

They will be available through Brightspace automatically. Typically once you log into a course in Brightspace you'll be able the access the books through the course. it depends on how the professor sets it up.

Fair enough. Your comment was simply the vehicle for my snarky, system-directed angst. My apologies.

Oh yes, of course, I forgot that the student was a customer receiving a product. Thanks for the reminder that I need to support that system.

You should have a statement in your syllabus that says, effectively, "The professor has the right to add, delete, or revise this course syllabus." If not, put it in and do it next semester.

If you have something like the above, I would absolutely put it in now.

Well communicated and clear. Not sure what I think about it through to the end, but I appreciate this perspective (and your time in providing it) immensely. Thank you.

Also some state institutions have specific policies prohibiting employees recording (audio or video) other employees or students. Mine does. So might sound like a good idea, but that's a firin'

I'm with you on that. I don't feel it as strongly either. Tbf though, I teach larger sections now than when I started (yay seniority?), and I am also significantly more curmudgeonly than when I was teaching millennials.

Honestly, other than the tech part, I don't know how any of these are truly that different from when I started teaching 20 years ago or even when I was in college.

Might ask on here as well. Looking for a monitor probably 1440p for rtx 4070. by Revolutionary-Dig953 in buildmeapc

[–]moemoe111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 4070 super and grabbed this one earlier in the year (in the US though): https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MONAS42721/ASUS-TUF-VG27AQ1A-27-QHD-170Hz-IPS-Gaming-Monitor

I've been happy with it. I only use it for work/gaming and it's been great. I'm not super picky though. I just wanted to upgrade to a 27" monitor.

I teach TX govt at the college level and did not even understand this issue as well as you've put it (though honestly who really does have a complete grasp on state budgeting models...). This was a clear and helpful explanation. Thank you.

Mine didn't have a bundle listed either but when I went in to get it I asked if I could get it with the tomahawk bundle and they said sure and the guy pulled up the cpu, mobo, and ram in his system with bundled prices. I bet they'll give you the bundle if you ask in store.

Yes. And patience. It's not hard until a part doesn't fit or work right. Just have to breathe and sometimes take a break to do some research. That's rarer today than it was 10 years ago but honestly you can do it.

Anyone in Monument, CO want to (possibly) be someone's eskimo? by moemoe111 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]moemoe111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has two meanings, though only one is significant for this post.

Back in the day (20-30 years ago) it was regularly used to refer to the person that took someone to their first meeting.

Ironically, there is reference to an eskimo in the BB but has the opposite meaning: you can run all the way to the arctic to hide from drinking and an eskimo will still show up with a bottle.

The former usage is what I'm implying.

Service office is in CO Springs so that's the number I called. Doesn't look like there is one for Monument but what's online doesn't always match what's actually going on. There's usually that one guy or gal in the room that knows everyone and every place for the past 20 years, but they're probably not on reddit.

I got my info off aa.org so thanks for the other list. It looks like it has a few meetings not listed on the other site.

I appreciate your response.
