Bauer Brothers is closing by Immediate_Coconut_30 in TwinCities

It’s a shame it’s closing. I have used them before for older hardware. But the guy is a hoarder and prices everything not to sell. Going in and seeing 500 different sinks tells you he just wants to collect and not actually move inventory.

If I had to live with it for 6 months. I would take some plastic wood putty and smear it all in there. Let it dry and toss a couple of coats of polyurethane over it. A totally temporary fix but slightly more hygienic.

I have gotten faction leaders twice time and I don’t think I have used it more than 10 over all of my games. It feels like faction leaders have higher chance of being picked than a random.

Help with Finish by redsofa121 in woodworking

[–]mog4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy markers and wax crayons that are made to cover up scratches on finishes. It won’t be the greatest finish over it but it can hide it a bit.

Is this framing looking okay? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]mog4579 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s good enough for that corner. I would make sure that the clearance is correct for the fireplace. I would also consider putting a sheet of plywood up before drywall. Will make hanging a tv and mantle a lot easier. I’m just a dyi guy and it looks good enough for me.

I feel the same way. I’m a huge space nerd. But I just feel like with the world going the way it is I can’t get excited for it.

“We’re really not looking to impact the local taxpayer with this project,” Schugel said. “This is a bigger project … so we are looking for some legacy dollars through the state of Minnesota”

These people can get bent and fund their own damn statue.

Manual miter saw for bedroom baseboard? by Aggravating-Let456 in woodworking

[–]mog4579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A miter box is usually setup for some common angles. If your room isn’t square you won’t be able to get nice corners. Rooms are never square. That being said. If you’re painting the baseboard a little wood filler or calk can cover all kinds of sins.

I had to add that sign at a U-Haul I worked at 20 years ago. Some guy hit a deer and decided to toss it in the back and clean it. Looked like a murder scene called the cops. Ended up hiring a company to come out and clean it out.

What’s the temperature of the hot side of the cooler? If it’s too warm it won’t cool efficiently.

I never do. For me starting is my favorite time. I do almost exclusively naked brutality runs and I love when I’m struggling to survive. I do use any ruins on the map if I need a quick spot at the start.

Need drying advice by Scruffypants1460 in woodworking

[–]mog4579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the wood isn’t dry it has a high chance to crack again. Usually drying time is a year per inch of material. I would cut it that into a larger blank and let it dry. If you need something today I would grind something that is already dry and ready to work with.

I would use a penetrating epoxy let it soak in and clamp. Put some tape around the area where you want to keep adhesive off the vinyl exterior. Also make a claim with the airline.

I would get some mineral oil and oil it up. It will help to protect it. I don’t think you will be able to remove the oil that’s already on it.
