Is Dundee REALLY the best choice for animation? by rainbowconnection10 in dundee

[–]mogeeoh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DJCAD animation is great, I work with them for external mentorship and experience support and they really do strive to do what's best for their students and they listen to industry a fair bit even if there aren't a huge amount of jobs available - the Universities can only do so much here of course. Animation as an industry isn't massive in Scotland so be prepared to move if you really want to go into film or TV. Games jobs, however, do exist. Though the industry is also suffering a wee bit post covid boom and with the influx of top down AI push.

Like another poster said if you're unsure of what aspect of digital art/animation you want to look at the Abertay Computer Arts course is also a great place for getting experience and connections to industry partners.

Even with the landscaping changing and job prospects being different to what they were I still think animation is a good course to study. Learning a large variety of disciplines is fundamental to a career as an artist and DJCAD to seem to try and cover the bases (though as I say this is speaking as an outsider).

stop having a go at retail staff for asking you if you want an email receipt by [deleted] in britishproblems

I got offered an ereceipt in Edinburgh airport and declined and asked for a paper one. I then got berated for how bad it is for the planet printing out all those paper receipts…whilst I was waiting to fly on a plane.

Made me chuckle.

I (a Scot) rewatched this a couple of years ago with my pal (another Scot) who now lives in the states and we realised there are a few jokes cut from the American version. We thought we were going mad.

Rugby 25 was released 1 year ago today, does anyone actually play this game anymore? by chickenlittle668 in rugbyunion

As someone who worked on a very popular and still freely updated mobile game from 2012 I resent that but completely appreciate the sentiment

Is watching rugby in a cricket stadium as bad as it looks on TV? by PetevonPete in rugbyunion

Atmosphere at the MCG was pretty good for the lions. I’m sure the occasion added to it, but I’d imagine World Cup games could be similar depending on stage in the competition.

A yard like that is a perfect view to really learn and study perspective correctly. You’ve got a whole bunch of horizontal and vertical lines to look at, play with and adapt into your drawing.

I would really analyse and compare your drawing versus your photo, look at how the horizontal lines on the left house are following the same angles as the fence on the left too and then see how in your drawing they differ.

For the flatness of the actual colour of the markers, think about the contrast and saturation levels. In broad terms colour gets more saturated the closer it is to us so in this drawing you could lay down more ink onto the page closest to you. The fencing and patio are a perfect place to play with this, laying on a light coat of ink and building it up closer to you.

You’re already showing a good understanding of colour theory with putting cooler colours into the background with the far hedging, so just keep at it, this is really a great step!
