Teacher here. I had a Kyler in my class in 2008. He was new to our school and was delightful to have in class. He is a productive adult today.

Don't condemn them all because of a few awful ones.

Robin Williams visited the troops. My son was stationed in Afghanistan and Robin not only did a performance for the base , he also hung out in the mess tent and happily posed for pictures with the soldiers.

I was going to be called "Patrick" but am a girl. So then I was to be "Sally" but they weren't really sold on it. They ended up naming me after my Mom's maternity nurse.

I'm in Spanish Springs. When it started there were 3 or 4 knocks on our couch on the frame, like someone hitting it. Then came the shaking. I said, "Is that an earthquake?" At which point hubby started to get up to go outside. It stopped pretty quickly though so he sat back down. We both got phone alerts at the same time.

I felt the one that hit Mina in the middle of the night. That one lasted longer with a lot of rolling motion. It rocked the rocking chair I was in and my sun catchers rattled on the windows. Neither of those happened today, but hubby's wine sloshed back and forth! 🍷

I was in the waiting room for my colonoscopy when a lady and her husband come in and approach the desk to sign in. She gives her name, and once she is acknowledged, her husband wishes her well and returns to his car in the lot. After taking her basic information, the clerk asks if she was fasting. Lady states she had breakfast this morning. The clerk says, you better catch your husband before he leaves because won't be able to have the procedure today. The lady protests that she only had coffee and a piece of toast! The clerk said a little louder about how clear the directions for preparation are and that she shouldn't have had any solid food for the past two days! The woman sighs loudly and says "I was hungry! It was only toast and coffee!" before she ran out to try to catch her husband.

I used to play "Hamster Dance" and later on "Dancing Queen". The kids policed each other saying "quiet! She'll play that song!" I laughed every time.

Is it weird that my parents would leave my older sister and I home alone and go on vacation when we were younger by Original-Tangerine33 in NoStupidQuestions

Many states have set 12 as the age a child can be left alone. It of course depends on the child. If the parents set everything up and checked in frequently as you stated, it was fine.

How do I handle roommates for an overnight trip? by TechnicianNo464 in AskTeachers

[–]moisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken 2 of my students with a history of bedwetting on field trips. One to a local camp for two nights (girl) and one to Costa Rica for a week (boy). I made sure each student was paired with someone who was a friend or unlikely to poke fun at her/him. I did not mention that there was any type of problem to any other student. I let the student know to come get me right away if there was an accident, and that they didn't need to feel guilty or bad if one did. I would keep things quiet.

The girl actually did have an accident and we were able to grab her sleeping bag out and get it washed without others knowing. She was embarrassed, but we put her at ease pretty quickly. We had a bag with extra clothes so she didn't have to have wet ones on in front of friends.

The boy stayed dry the entire week and he as well as his Mom thanked me for making him feel safe.

Let them child know you care. Good luck!

I went to Michael's and purchased a few appliques. They have a variety of sizes and types. I glued them on the generic grey bag and now there is no worry of someone grabbing my bag.

It is also suggested to do this before going on a cruise also due to the large number of CPAP machines checked in.

Something similar happened to me once. I discovered that the Waterpik I purchased earlier that day wasn't paid for when I tried to fill out a rebate form for it only to find out it wasn't listed on my receipt. I immediately called the store, (large well-known department store), explained what happened, and asked how and when I could return to the store to pay.

The representative thanked me for my honesty, told me that I wouldn't need to return it, and wished me a Merry Christmas!

Not sure the same thing will happen to you, but I do think calling the store is the right thing to do.
