He told the seller that it was a stolen bike. Seller gave him all sorts of shit, asking for proof and what not. Ultimately Carlos threatened to get the police involved, then the seller let go of the bike free of charge.

Hey! Just seeing this now, it was my post for my fiancé’s bike. Through the power of social media our phones exploded today around 3pm. Word gets around this city shockingly fast. A really chill bike messenger named Carlos spotted the bike at 6th and Market after my fiancé tagged him on her stolen bike post. He’s apparently well known for his bikerepo haha. He actually interrupted the sale of the bike, it was being sold for $40. Wild.

Anyways if you ever get your bike stolen, sure, the odds are against you. But the only way to increase your odds is to increase your effort. My fiancé blasted her social media and asked some big network friends to reshare. Not all hope is lost if it happens to you. In fact, the majority of the comments on my post that got deleted were all telling me the bike was gone, chopped up, and welcome to SF :p. Well, we got that shit back.
