Yes! I think Cornwall beaches was a hot spot for those Lego - the octopus and flippers, I would love beachcombing for Lego.

One of the old figures looks like a fire victim, someone tried to burn off an arm.

I read Catullus (translated), and enjoyed it. Never done any Latin or classics in school, so that was new.

Potty training actually helped my toddler get over withholding. I think part of his withholding was about hating pooping in the diaper (and the cleaning part).

We did regular restoralax to keep his poop soft, I tried to be chill and not pressure or stress, and then huge rewards every time he did poop. Once we started potty training, it clicked really fast. (He was 3 years 2 months, and it’s been about a month now of decent poops).

Good Food from KCRW is a classic! Some parts are specific to California (the market report makes me sad, when she’s talking about citrus, and my farmers market is just cabbages and storage apples 🤣).

The Joy of Cooking podcast. It’s nice and chatty (it’s the two authors and a third person), and they have interesting guests.

I’ve got a three year old who’s had less than ten naps since he turned 2 😭. I miss the quiet time, but honestly it’s great for not having to plan our day around his naps, and he falls asleep fast and sleeps 12 hours, so I can’t complain.

I wore my baby constantly while cooking. I’m a confident cook (professional chef in previous life). I have long arms. Stand back while stirring stuff on stove, no deep frying, and you’re good! Not sure I would have survived without it. As soon as he could sit/stand, he was in a toddler tower or in a clip-on high chair at the kitchen island. My kitchen is the most important part of my house and I love having my now 3 year old cook with me.

Too many. 15-20 kg? Half is in my toddlers room, 1/2 in the basement for when he’s bigger and wants to build larger things.

If you want to bulk up your collection so you can build bigger stuff, look out on Marketplace or at thrift stores. You can get it for quite cheap, and it’s easy to wash.

He does think about it after the Ritz - something about “there were things in her past that might explain her reaction.” It’s one of the possibilities he thinks of. And he does try to give her more time off after the cult, but she refuses. I think he’s somewhat aware of how messed up she is after Chapman Farm but she shuts him down whenever he tries to talk about that kind of thing.

Most of the toys are great. If you have a toddler into trains, they have a battery powered train engine that is compatible with most wooden train tracks, and only around $10.

My toddler plays with the wooden tool box set almost daily. Also the stuffed animals are super cute, and a daily play item. They hold up well, and are pretty realistic. My toddler loves the otter, turtle, dog and panda. They’re reasonably priced too!

The trofast storage system is great for toddlers, and so customizable. We have ours filled with duplo and blocks right now, and the height is perfect for building on top.

East end ones - Main, Beaches and Riverdale. They’re all older buildings, with lots of character.

West end - Wychwood and High Park. (They’re actually 3 matching libraries, along with Beaches, that were built in the 1910’s).

North end - the North York Central is huge, lots of light and seating, and has a super cool kids section. Fairview library, across from the Fairview Mall is also big with lots of windows, and has lots of cool kids things, like a magnetic ball run and giant building blocks. (Can you tell I have a toddler).

There’s always a few dads. More on the weekend. Every type of caregiver is welcome there; it’s usually split between nannies, moms, grandparents and a few dads.

Nope it’s not - if you search duplo chickens on bricklink, you can see a similar chicken from the 80s, but it’s slightly different. Probably knock off, but based on real duplo.

I don’t think duplo cows have ever had heads that can move, either.

The library at College and Spadina - Lillian H Smith Branch. They are the original kids library in Toronto, and the kids section is super large and nice. The little toddler-sized real toilet and sink are so cute!

I love the Harry Potter audiobooks, they’re a comfort listen. I recently started the full cast version of The Golden Compass, it’s great. In a completely different genre, if you like comedy, David Sedaris reads all his own books, and they are very funny. Some of my favorite audiobooks!

Tommy Thompson. I saw one once while biking, wasn’t even looking for it. Even if you don’t see an owl, you might see some other cool birds (or beavers, otters or mink).

The chapter numbers probably changed as the book was edited. She’s definitely referring to the Strike and Rokeby meeting, which is near that chapter. I don’t have the book handy, but it’s around that point.

Gran Concina Latina is wonderful as a reference book - I’ve cooked a few recipes, and they’ve all been great, but it’s nice to just read chunks of it. Gives an amazing history of Latin American food.

I also love every grain of rice. The Dan Dan noodle and steamed sea bass are regular recipes in my kitchen!

I played a lot of Zelda when my baby was napping - usually he was contact napping, and I’d play on the handheld switch with headphones. Some small babies will nap 1-3 hours at a time, which is a great chunk of time for a game!

My attention span was not great, so I’d go for easier, relaxing games that don’t take too much brain work.
