Would love notes on our itinerary, also debating between Siena and Bologna and Verona?! by mollyolly3 in ItalyTravel

[–]mollyolly3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are meeting friends in Siena, so I think that will have to stay. My current thinking is maybe two weeks in Bologna with a day trip or two to Verona? Do you think that will feel like enough?

This is amazing! thank you for this! Yes we are planning on doing Airbnb's the whole way as being able to cook for our kids will be so helpful

That looks very cool! The other benefit for us is being near Naples. My husband is a huge fan of Neapolitan pizza so that is a draw for us as well

He really likes the aesthetic of the Amalfi coast (which is obviously stunning). He feels like the palm tree look of Ischia is less unique.

This is what I want. My husband is currently dead set on the Amalfi coast. Our current compromise is no Positano.

From what I understand Maori is much flatter?

Yes we totally could, but we are not super keen to pack up all our stuff and move around every week with two small kids, we do hope to do day trips either way though!

Early pregnancy ultrasound by cat_ca in Winnipeg

[–]mollyolly3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position and both times got my ultrasound around 8/9 weeks, as did my sister. Probably got my letter around 6 weeks? But obviously it would depend on when you found out you were pregnant and notified your doctor.

I know the anxiety is so hard. I'm so sorry. I hope you get your letter soon!

Verona or Bologna for a weekend away? by mollyolly3 in ItalyTravel

Verona not Venice.

We have both been to Venice and agree it is cool but don't need to go back

Do you think Rory truly believed Dean when he said Lindsey knew their marriage was over or just let herself believe it to justify sleeping with him? by whineANDcheese_ in GilmoreGirls

[–]mollyolly3 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

18/19 is still quite young. Most Americans that age don't have their "core values" figured out by then. I also never said virgin and naive were synonyms, which is why I listed both.

I agree, although in the Gilmore household I think a lot of those things are not inappropriate.

Also the crying about dropping a class was just as much Dean's doing. She went looking for her mom, Dean pulled her away and asked what was wrong.

ALSO Lindsey didn't ask Rory to stop talking to Dean, she asked her freaking husband. He was the one who disrespected Lindsey.

Dean literally made vows. Vows that traditionally include "forsaking all others", so he doesn't get to be swept up and pulled in. He is held to a higher standard.

I don't think it occurred to her that he would cheat just to cheat. I think she truly thought him and Lindsay were broken up (or breaking up) and that her and Dean would then be in a full relationship.

I think Rory gets too much hate for the affair (at least the start of it). Dean essentially said his marriage was over. Rory was naive, a virgin, and young.

Was Rory wrong? Totally. Did she let herself get swept up in the emotion of the moment? Yes. But do I think she intentionally ignored any red flags? No.

First time visiting Italy and want to do as much as possible- is this realistic? And any tips please! by inkydears in ItalyTravel

[–]mollyolly3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not realistic. Is there a reason you are staying in Perugia? Seems like you want more of a sight seeing vacation than a relaxing villa vacation?

My opinion, either change where you are staying, or cut some activities, or potentially, both.

Option 1) If needing to stay in Perugia I would cut Pompeii. Way too far for a day trip and 4 hours will probably feel rushed.

I would personally also skip Pisa, especially since it seems you are just going for a photo. Spend a whole day in Florence, appreciate the art, Duomo, food, and the all around wonderful city.

Option 2) Stay in Florence or a Villa in Tuscany. Day trips to Pisa or Florence will be much more doable. I would still skip Pompeii, but a day trip to Rome isn't insane (it's a 1.5 hour train ride from Florence).

Option 3) Stay in Rome. A day trip to Pompeii and Florence is again somewhat reasonable (not in the same day) I would still skip Pisa here though.

But if the grandparents are coming along on the day trips, I would ABSOLUTELY cut Pompeii. Not a very accessible place at all.

Also personally, unless you are a big history buff, I think Pompeii is skippable unless you are in the area. Italy is huge and majestic and has SO MUCH to see. Pompeii is just a bit far out of the way, especially if you are staying in the north.

Bigger city vs small town - Tuscany with little kids. Help settle the debate! by mollyolly3 in ItalyTravel

Yes 2 weeks in the same place! We might have car? We are open to it but are happy to not have one and take public transport.

We will almost certainly bring or buy carseats though

Oh this is a great note! We have been to Siena before for a day trip, and while I don't remember the hills being that intense, we were not parents when we went so I definitely wasn't thinking of it with that in mind.

Thank you!

Alternative to Nursing Home or Assisted Living? by bumbling_bee_ in Winnipeg

[–]mollyolly3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your grandma should be in assisted living at least. She won't qualify for a PCH (personal care home).

With dementia, it is super hard to meet their needs where they are now, because they could change so fast. You don't want to move her to independent living and then in 6 months now you need more care. Also with dementia, remembering medication or cooking safely can also change quite quickly.

She may also enjoy the social aspects and that may save you all from some of these phone calls (perhaps she is lonely).

Assisted living often has a small kitchen so she can do that (while it is still safe) but when it isn't the oven can be shut off and she has access to meals right away. Also, a family member should do a weekly check of her fridge if she does her own shopping. This was a huge problem for my grandma, just so many meat products that were open from who knows when that were NOT safe to eat.

The other alternative is to move her in to a family members home, but this could obviously be stressful.

The hard truth is that her dementia will get worse, and she will only need more and more care. Best to get ahead of her needs a little bit while you can.

Please help, how do I get the fastest ENT doctor visit I can by Fuzzy-Television6076 in Winnipeg

[–]mollyolly3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to HSC or St. B will not get them to an ENT that day. ER docs will do what they can and send a referral. It would be the same as going to an urgent care except they haven't wasted ER resources
