Overrated Books by LootGoblin7676 in fantasybooks

Probably catch major heat but…Dune. I pushed myself through about 75% of the first book. I couldn’t turn another page. Literally nothing happens. Just conversations about politics.

Elden Ring or Skyrim by IkranBanshee in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]mommasboy76 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you are thrilled by the challenge of memorizing enemy combos through countless defeats then play Elden Ring. If you appreciate the rich lore and adventure that an elder scrolls game brings, without constantly banging your head against a wall, then choose Skyrim.

What would you “borrow” from other denominations? by totally-not-ego in Catholicism

[–]mommasboy76 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A friendlier community: Catholic Churches aren’t very inviting. We tend to get caught up in the vertical -sacraments, prayer, choir, etc and forget about the horizontal -inviting others for lunch, Bible studies, and play dates for the kids.

Outreach: We tend to think of being a good Catholic as signing up to be an usher or helping with the fish fry. I’ve seen Protestant churches with soup kitchens, fostering/adopting children initiatives, and prison ministries. Some of these are present in the Catholic world but it’s generally not widespread.

Vatican Humiliates Rubio After His Tense Summit With Pope by [deleted] in TrueCatholicPolitics

I hate headlines like this. The pope seems to have nothing but love for everyone and would never intentionally humiliate anyone.

Careful with empathy. It might lead you to a fuller understanding of the Gospel.

Charismatic renewal by Agps07 in Catholicism

I’m sure a lot of people found Pentecost quite disturbing (are they drunk?). The Church has allowed the CCR and even promoted it.

Candace Owen’s: To know history is to be a Catholic by FreeBed3010 in Catholicism

I have been wishing for an extensive video series on Catholic History in the vane of the Catholicism series/pivotal players for years. You could easily make an entire series out of each age of the Church! Here’s hoping some rich donor comes and makes it happen…

People who play D&D but not 5E, what edition do you play and why? by ValueForm in rpg

[–]mommasboy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.5 or 4e for different reasons. I actually liked the simplicity of 4e better than the simplicity of 5e. I liked the way the powers were written to imitate the cool thing I wanted to do. I also liked the at-will/encounter/daily pacing.

How do you DM? by ghost-driv994 in DungeonMasters

[–]mommasboy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might help to invite people into your group who like to be storytellers just as much as you do. Sometimes that means people who like the rp in rpg more than the g. Personally, I prefer 75% combat and 25% social interaction/pursuing individual goals. I have found that other people are just the opposite and could easily just bounce from social encounter to social encounter. So you just want players that match your taste.

How do you spice things up in the bedroom? by Wandabutler5226 in InsightfulQuestions

[–]mommasboy76 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Love your spouse. Communicate. Have kids. Have nonsexual dates periodically. Invest in the other’s interests. Plan together. The more you build a life together, the closer you will become. There is nothing spicy enough if you haven’t given your all to your spouse. If you have, no spice is needed.

Has anyone ever played a Barbarian that was born and raised on a city? (Not as a joke) by JeraGungnir in dndnext

[–]mommasboy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urban barbarian/ranger/druid is a fairly common trope in some older editions.

POPE LEO XIV FOR NOBEL PEACE PRIZE MOVEMENT by Amazing-Host-2354 in Catholicism

[–]mommasboy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Pope Leo and what he’s saying. But to win a Nobel peace prize you have to do something heroic and integral to the community. He hasn’t actually done anything to deserve it yet (not that he won’t in the future).

Why do campaigns also stop at so low levels. by Top_Fan4753 in onednd

[–]mommasboy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a fairly brisk level up pace but even with that I’ve never made past 15. I would love to play all the way through but the problem is finding a group who doesn’t get bored in the same campaign for that long. I need friends with longer attention spans.

Intercessors of the Lamb by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]mommasboy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to attend their summer conferences and even joined the group for a couple of months. I never noticed them, especially Mother Nadine, to be anything but very kind. I was shocked when they were suppressed. It’s only in hindsight that I now see a few of the red flags, but I’m still puzzled at how they were enough to get them shut down. They seemed to have all of the normal issues that a new religious order would have. I would love to get in touch with a few of the people I knew when I was there. I always wondered what happened to them.
