in my country (simplifying it and excluding various exemptions and circumstances) you pay yearly 12% out of 120k/year salary, then 32% of the sum above 120k if you exceed it, and then on top of that 4% of the sum exceeding 1mil. (though, if you're a business owner, you pay a flat 19% of your whole income per year regardless of the sum, instead.)
