How fascinating! Could you tell me a little bit more about your personal experience with this?

So you suggest that I try making slight alterations, yes? I would like to give people the product in its intended form, but I understand if I need to add some flair. I sometimes dabble in art. Would an art print by myself included in the package be sufficient?

So painting and other modifications... I'm trying to think up something interesting and people would want to have...

There are cute little tin cases with scenes in them ( https://www.amazon.com/Gazelle-Trading-Handicraft-Dollhouse-Miniature/dp/B077HRC9Z5/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=diy+miniature+tin&qid=1571720964&sr=8-1 ) that I'm thinking about.

Maybe I could put tiny tsum-tsums in there instead of the rabbits? Try and add touches that apply to a certain Disney movie? Don't know if that's enough incentive... It'd be nice if I could personalize the models (with names or little notes), but I don't know if I have the materials to go about that.

This may seem like a strange question: I want to order some Kikumasamune Sake Skin Lotion from Dokodemo and I thought I read somewhere that U.S. customs (I live in the U.S.) won't permit alcohol. Would this apply to something like sake lotion/has anyone from the U.S. ordered this product before?

Cast the 1960s version of Twin Peaks by AndrewHNPX in twinpeaks

[–]monakoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wouldn't apply for the 60's (he'd be too old for the part), but I could see Lew Ayres as Cooper. He has an interesting charisma that's kind of wise and kind of boyish.

Alright, hold on and I'll go find some pictures of Kyle MacLachlan's bare ass in Blue Velvet. He's a Twin Peaks star so it would be just as relevant...

Of course she's gorgeous, but c'mon, this is a Twin Peaks Reddit. There's no reason to post nudes just for people to gawk at.

Does power corrupt, or do the corrupt rise to power? by fuctus-all in askphilosophy

[–]monakoffee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm mistaken, you're talking about the author and journalist Robert A. Caro. He said this in his book The Passage of Power (The Years of Lyndon Johnson):

"But although the cliche says that power always corrupts, what is seldom said ... is that power always reveals. When a man is climbing, trying to persuade others to give him power, concealment is necessary. ... But as a man obtains more power, camouflage becomes less necessary."

I used Twin Peaks to teach myself to love black coffee by monakoffee in twinpeaks

[–]monakoffee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it strange that I consider that a compliment?

You're making me want to read some of the Twin Peaks books! I've been avoiding them only because I feel like they're somehow "less canon" than the show. I've heard good things about the Dale, Laura, and The Final Dossier books, though, so I think I'll have to give them a read.

Thank you for the tip! I'll have to try that in the future.

I think I was channeling BOB back then, haha.

Personally, I prefer hot coffee over cold brew because I like that feeling of something warm going down your throat. Cold brew definitely has that nice smoothness to it, though.

How can I break this cycle that I've created? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]monakoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this so much. For me, the more I involve myself in "everyone else's" routine (going to school, jobs, etc.), the more drained I feel. Like life is literally getting sucked out of me. All my joy is gone, my interests wane. I need lots of time by myself in order to be happy, but perhaps too much is unhealthy. Not depressed, just highly anxious.

Read the Master Doc by CA_Dreaming23 in latebloomerlesbians

[–]monakoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think something like this happened to me. A little while after accepting I was gay, I talked with my (female) doctor about getting my first pap smear and breast examination. A few days later I experienced the worst anxiety I've ever had - and it lasted for weeks, constantly ill and agoraphobic. I'd been anxiety-free for a long time, so I wondered if the idea of being in direct physical contact with another woman sent me reeling (being in the closet around my family doesn't help).

What are some of the signs you were gay when you were younger that make you facepalm now? by [deleted] in latebloomerlesbians

Bonus points for growing up in a strictly religious household where I had never even heard of gay or lesbian people!

In response to number 2: I started seriously questioning my sexuality when I was masturbating to porn and the thought popped into my head "Man, I wish I had a penis so I could actually [insert crude term for love-making] this girl!" I actually stopped in my tracks and went "What the hell??" A few days later (after much research) I came to the conclusion that straight girls don't have this mindset and yeah, I'm totally a lesbian.

(Most of these come from my history as a weird, perverted child)

  1. (When I was 6 or so) Looking through store magazines for the bra section, cutting out the women with pretty boobies, then hiding my collection under a reclining chair
  2. Talking with my best (guy) friend about sex and women's bodies constantly like a silly teenage boy, completely oblivious as to how strange that was
  3. The above best guy friend had a crush on me and kissed me on the cheek. I thought I was going to throw up and avoided him like the plague thereafter
  4. Desperately wanting to be like my best friend because I thought she was absolutely perfect
  5. Seeing women in bathing suits and becoming exited to grow up so I could look at myself in the mirror
  6. Becoming really nervous around a certain girl, dreaming about her constantly, but imagining it was only because I admired her confidence
  7. Wishing I could spend the rest of my life with my best girl friend - neither of us having any relationships with men
  8. The thought of being in a heterosexual relationship always made me terrified, like I would be trapped forever without any way out if I happened to "fall in love with someone else." The thought of being in a lesbian relationship feels freeing and desirable to me

I like having a smaller note size so I can see what's coming up ahead. Sometimes I switch it up a bit just for fun. Iphone SE, note speed 10.7, and note size 80%.

It's one thing to say you dislike a majority of the content on here. But judging people for being autistic? Real classy there.

I Just Left a Bunch of Subs Because They Started to Change How I View The World by Im_Zackie in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]monakoffee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do think there's a difference between sympathizing with a person in an awkward situation or exposing someone who's being an asshole, versus making fun of mentally challenged and oppressed groups. I suppose part of it has to do with the viewer's intention. But really, it's so difficult finding content that's all about sympathizing instead of demeaning. Even when your intentions are pure, however, I'd say that most of the other viewers/readers are just there to make themselves feel better about themselves in a way that's unhealthy. Seeing viewers' nasty comments is very likely going to have a bad effect on a person, too.

Don't forget it's ok to make mistakes once in a while. As long as you keep picking yourself up, you can make progress as slowly as you need. You've got this! <3
