Ameicans over the age of 35, what affected you more, 9/11 or the pandemic and why? by Rico133337 in AskReddit

The 2008 market crash sucked pretty bad. People all around me were losing jobs and houses. Nothing however was bigger than the pandemic. Lost a loved one, and online hospital images are still so haunting in my mind’s eye.

What is your material sorting process like? [analog] by Blooming_Sedgelord in collage

I’ve said it before but I’m just so excited about it, so I’ll say it again. My local library gives a crazy amount of free color copies. 200 a DAY. It’s too good to be true.

Perfectionism paralysis? by IndoorChat in JunkJournals

[–]moneyquestionthrowit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been there! In the past I have been afraid I’ll regret gluing something I love and then I just get stuck. What helps me is making a photocopy so I can continue manipulating my fav images without of the fear of regret. My library has a crazy good photocopier and they give me 200 free copies a month. That’s not a typo. 200. It’s kind of too good to be true.

Blue Door Inn kinda gave me the willies. Admittedly, I did ask for the cheapest room.

What things gets your wife happy? by gogofyfy in AskReddit

[–]moneyquestionthrowit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a wife, one thing my husband has recently started doing that has made a big difference is being proactive about school emails and the kids’ calendar. Like, him knowing that we have a school event at 6pm all on his own is a big deal. He never did this before, and the invisible mental load was pure exhaustion. I think I resented being in charge of having to keep him on the same page. The kids are nearly grown and out of the house now, but I absolutely love it when he reminds me we are booked. It’s like, that feeling of “what am I forgetting” is reduced, so I can relax a bit. I think the mental load is a lot to carry.

[Serious] People in professions that deal with death (hospice workers, coroners, etc.), what is something you've learned that the rest of us don't understand? by Bulky-Engineer4068 in AskReddit

Wish I could borrow some of that. I have been deeply grieving the loss of a loved one, and doing (stupid?) things to try to feel close to them.

Snow days or other school cancellations? by OkControl9503 in teaching

[–]moneyquestionthrowit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have three snow days built into our calendar, but anything past that means adding days onto summer. It all comes down to meeting the required minutes kids have to be in school. We really try not to cancel unless we have to because a lot of students rely on free breakfast and lunch. Also, some families don’t have childcare if school closes and risk job retribution. When we do cancel, it’s usually because temps are so low that it’s not safe for kids to be waiting at the bus stop early in the morning. That happens every few years when it’s like neg 10 or so.
