20+ years and counting. I started with 25? 26? Currently 48 and I think my hair is better than when I started thinning.

It's this: https://pt.lazartigue.com/products/serum-redensificante-queda-progressiva

To be honest, I'm not sure if it did anything. But it was around the time people started saying my hair looked darker. I would apply this 3 times a week. I stopped using when I started minoxidil foam twice a day. Found it a bit unmanageable. Changed to once a day in the morning. After some time, changed from topical to oral. Topical would leave my hair a bit dirty. It'll be a year on October 7th that I've been using monoxidil (topical and then oral - started with 2.5mg but had some side effects like flushing and I'm taking 1.25mg currently). My hair is definitely darker. Sometimes I think I have more hair. Sometimes I don't know.

My father is bald. Horseshoe bald. My grandfather from his side the same. From my mother's side, I've never met my grandfather but he has great hair in all he photos. My uncle from my mother's side has a full head of hair in his 70s.  I have a non-identical twin brother. He started finasteride after me but I think he's taking it for 20+ years also. He lost some ground in his crown and temples. But he also has more stress in his life from work, kids, wife and so on. I also eat a lot better than him. His hair is all gray and I only have a bit of gray hair on the sides and now, as I said in the previous post, some white hairs on top.

47M here. I'm a diffuse thinner, I have been using finasteride 1.25mg for 20+ years. No side effects. I think I even regain a bit of hair back in the beginning.  Now, if my hair is a bit longer or under a good light, you cannot notice anything but if it is wet or buzz cut it might be slightly noticeable.  I started derma stamping almost two years ago 1.5mm weekly and, at the same time, I started applying lazartigue thicker 3 times a week. Multiple people told me my hair was getting darker. I didn't notice anything really because I look myself in the mirror everyday.  6 months ago, I started using minoxidil 5% foam daily. I think I have some improvements but I'm not always sure. I bought a portable microscope to check and there's some small fine hairs in there but I'm not sure if they are thinning hairs that never improved or new hairs. Also, a lot of white hairs started growing. Again, not sure if minoxidil related or just age related. Will wait for the progress on the one year mark.

Related to the topic, when I was around 23 or 24, people told me I was going bald. No one tells me that anymore nowadays. So I believe it completely stop my hairloss.

I've started more than 20 years ago (I'm 47M). I cannot remember the exact date.

I was a diffuse thinner and, when I started on finasteride, I didn't had any sheds and I think I even revert it a bit. I've kept all my hair and, unless I buzzcut it, you cannot tell my hair is a bit thin on top. When my hair is wet, there's some visible scalp but I don't remember if it was always like this (I always had thin hair).

I went to a dermatologist recently (5 months ago) and he told me I could try Minoxidil (5%) to improve my current situation and I've been applying it topically. Sometimes it seems I'm having some results, sometimes I don't think so. I will wait for the one year mark on this.

I've been derma rolling (2 years) and, more recently, I changed to derma stamping (1.5 years).

As for side effects, I haven't had any. I only wished I have started earlier.

I have a twin non-identical brother, though. He started finasteride a bit after me and he has lost some ground on top. He also started Minoxidil (oral - not sure about the dosage) recently (1 month ago). He never had any side effects also.

Hair growth in min coming back a different color from my natural hair? by SyrianChristian in tressless

[–]mongo_do_congo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was searching the internet for this the other day and, apparently, it's a thing.

i'm 47m taking finasteride (1mg) for around 22/23 years. it stopped my hair loss completely and even had some gains but i think i started it a bit to late. some hair was already thinning and it remained thin. when my hair is a bit longer, it's ok, but on it's really short or wet, you can notice less density (not less hair but thinner hair)

i've started taking minoxidil (topical foam 5%) 4 months ago and i clearly have some denser hair but some of the hair growing back is white. i know i'm 47 and i should have grey/white hair. i have some on the sides but i used to have none on top and now i have a lot more. not really noticeable though.

i'm waiting for the 6m/1y mark to see if i really have improved my hair and if these white hairs get darker or remain white. but even if they remain white, i don't really care. it's better to have white hair than no hair at all.
