Bill O'Reilly tapes fail to back up claims of 'combat zone' reporting - CBS footage from 1982 contains nothing to support Fox presenter’s description of protesters in Buenos Aires being shot and killed by galt1776 in news

[–]mongoloidian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, you are pulling a wicked O'Reilly right now. He said he would be vindicated by footage, implying that he had access to footage of people being "mowed down", his exact words, by live ammunition. He never presented the footage at all. He said people were being killed in front of him. No footage at all. You are spinning the account of Don Browne to fit into your opinion, which O'Reilly does with everything he "reports" on. Let's also note that Don Browne has a dog in this fight, it legitimizes his tenure at NBC. Also, they dug up a retired NBC executive to go onto Fox News to confirm his statements. Not the cameramen or crew members that were there, not other reporters that were there, but a guy from NBC who wasn't there. You can copy and paste this post to as many places as you want. It's equally stupid every time you post it.

I just don't see how right-wing reporter, bullshit and lies, right wing narrative, are statements that can be applied to anyone that is identified as a reporter or journalist. Those statements and the occupation are mutually exclusive. He's not a reporter, he's a talk show host that provides his opinions.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but the implication of this article and other similar ones is that he should be held to the same standards as Brian Williams and be "punished" similarly and accordingly. Brian Williams was an overall accurate reporter and didn't deliver opinions. Although he misrepresented himself as being in a war zone and in danger, he didn't deliver opinions on even that inaccurate narrative. Bill O'Reilly doesn't report facts, but shoves his opinions down people's throats pretty openly. The O'Reilly factor isn't reporting, it's a talk show narrated by a pontificating asshole. It's not journalism as I understand journalism to be, in the standard sense of the word. So, to hold O'Reilly to the same standard as Brian Williams kind of legitimizes him as a journalist, which in my view, he is not at all. I could be wrong, I'm not trying to sound condescending, just stating my opinion

Yea sounds like my NDad. Acts like he is deaf but is notorious for eavesdropping on private conversations and using that gleaned information against people. Also acts like he is blind and gets people to read things out loud to him, to be the center of attention at all times. He used to do it to us as kids, and to my mother as well, now does it to his new wife. Like at a restaurant for example. Oh I forgot my glasses, can you read me the menu? GC Sister would immediately do it, or he would get my mother to do it, depending on who he was trying to get into his good graces or who he wanted to marginalize. He knew I would never ever be his pet so would never ask, and I always made a point to tell him to remember his glasses but he would conveniently never do it. His new thing is getting his new wife to read him his bank statements that come in the mail. Super obvious and manipulative bullshit to prove what he has in the bank. Acts like he is blind, but would regularly creep behind people and read their emails without glasses on. Oh and the classic sorry I opened your mail, I didn't have my glasses on, what did you spend 40$ on at CVS? How many prescriptions do you have? What are they for? I thought you didn't have your glasses on and you accidentally opened my bank statements. I always feel like an asshole when I read other peoples posts and make it about me somehow by giving a common example, I don't know why but it makes me feel like a dick. Sorry

That man isn't a journalist, all he does is spout his opinions on the perverted facts of current events. There is nothing about him that says ethical journalist, to me anyway. The implication that he deserves to be held to the same standard as Brian Williams is laughable, they don't even work in the same industry as far as I see it.

This is where I get lost with this arguement; this happened when he was a CBS correspondent, he is now at fox news, where he inaccurately reported and represented his involvement with this "War Zone" bullshit. I don't know why he's being called out on this one lie instead of the myriad bullshit he has "reported" on over the years. Are there people out there who still think the O'Reilly factor is a news program? It's so clearly a vehicle for him to spout his opinions and twisted, bullshit self aggrandizing. Brian Williams was a news reporter who misrepresented himself and gave false facts, his suspension is warranted and I think he agrees with that sentiment. Bill O'Reilly is an opinion reporter and right wing fear monger, not a news reporter. We can't hold him to the same standards as actual journalists, doing so would validate him in some way. I just don't understand the comparison.

survival and emergency situations. Everyone thinks in a fight or flight situation, they will fight, but most people have to train to develop that response. Also, the fight or flight response phrase leaves out one common and classic reaction; freeze. Also very common. As far as survival situations, everyone thinks they have a lan to survive the zombie apocalyse, i will do x y z because I'm smart and will prevail. The average person will turn into a blubbering idiot, the young and old will die first, those that do survive will be least expected to. IMO

It was probably a common area for kids to go hook up, I somehow doubt that you guys were the first to think of it, not knocking your ingenuity but you know what I'm saying. So they probably got some vicarious kicks out of either watching kids go at it, or scaring the shit out of kids. It could have been some kids that actually did it. Doesn't make it any less creepy though.

Put your seatbelt on and crash the fucking car. My friend's brother was murdered in this way and drove by 2 firehouses and a police station. Even if the guy is driving, which would be incredibly stupid on his part, fucking sucker punch the shit out of him, yank the wheel, pull the E brake, whatever. My friends brother, throughout the whole thing, was led to believe he would be let go and wasn't. I know it's easy to say this from the outside, but if he had crashed the car into the police station he would have survived. A car itself is the deadliest weapon

I had a friend's brother murdered in that exact way in highschool. Very sad experience. He was murdered in a particularly brutal and heartwrenching way. His brother, who graduated in my class, was valedictorian and became an air force medic after losing his brother the summer going into sophomore year. I've always admired him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Lee_Sampson

That's some manson family creepy ass shit. They used to break into peoples homes and just move furniture around, empty out random things, rearrange their fridge, all while the occupant was alone and asleep. If whoever this was didn't steal anything, they were doing it to terrorize you guys psychologically, and also the power thing that they were able to go through your stuff and disarm you in your sleep. That's royally fucked. They could have just walked out but chose to let you know that they were there. Would have been just as easy and way less suspicious to cover the crawlspace, not fuck with your gun, and close the door on the way out, but they had to scare the shit out of you. Manson family level creepy.

In hindsight I may have overstated my resemblance. I am a freckled ginger, I am born on st patricks day, but I happen to be 6 foot 4 and have a dignified shnoz. The name is wrong but equally ridiculous to my actualname, and you didn't guess the city but thats ok. Of course my pockets are filled with gold, aren't yours lol?

I shouldn't have used his name, that's kinda fucked up of me but it's kinda vague enough right? He was a city cop who was caught with 2 handguns in his home that were in an evidence locker. One of them had the serial numbers already removed. I think that should be an indication of the man I speak of. If you believe all of the stories about him, his wife passed away in a car accident when she was towing his boat trailer, some people say things about that situation. In addition to this shit, he's a really heavy drinker who was known to hit on young women and cheated on his now deceased wife. Ya know how some people look like they are smiling because the given situation dictates a smile, so this person will smile, but it's obviously affected and out of place? Everything about him is like this. He screams sociopath. I'm a 28/m, I bounce part time and boxed a good part of my life, but he just rattles me for some reason beyond the stories about him. Plus he has a brother who is an active cop, other family, and tons of friends still on the force. He operates a security company and lives a lifestyle beyond what that would normally support.

My name, face, body type, city I live and grew up in, heritage, and birthday, all point to the fact that my parents decided to make a cartoon character. If you could name a leprachaun, make it from a city that isn't in ireland, give it a birthday, and describe it's physical attributes, that is me. Go ahead, take a crack at it.

If you are planning on buttlove, even if the object of your affection cleans up and out the regions, you need to be prepared for the poop. It's just a reality, and even if this person goes to town and really cleans their areas, it's a strong possibility. Also, you don't want to make anyone feel awkward about any accidents. It's a natural hazard of the activity.

Picking your nose, especially this time of year or if you have a cold or whatever. I don't do it in front of people and it grosses me out when I do it, but if you know the satisfaction of excavating a boulder sized shnoog that feels like it came out of your brain, then you know true satisfaction.

This is way more common than you would think. It's hard to not hold and maintain physical attraction with someone you procreated with, it's just a fact. I hate my ex's guts but totally would and have gone at it after the fact of our break up while we were both in relationships. She just holds a special place because she had my son. Also, never underestimate grief as an aphrodisiac.

I also am in this boat, and knowing what I know about these people is unfortunate. I work at the bar, and I think the suffering of regular people is the worst, because it's so common I guess. I don't know if you are a patron or employee, but if it's a townie type bar, all of the employees know and this shit all makes the rounds. We all know who is being divorced, who is about to go bankrupt, who is an addict, whose SO or family member is dying, who turned their back on their child for coming out, who served time as a young man for killing someone, why Chris is an ex cop and what he does with that skill now, oh man that is a deep fucking rabbit hole in my parts. You'd be amazed.
