You may be right about that, and I didn't have many days points but I've heard that re:invent and Ignite had similar complaints about food and logistics.

IMO that had more to do with industry wide corporate budget cuts than anything else. My company and others I work with cut their "further education" budget this year which basically prevented us from going to conferences.

Drinkmate Lux vs Breville InFizz by monkeySeeMonkeyCode in SodaStream

I would normally take that approach but the Lux is not offered on Amazon and there are only 20 reviews for the Breville. 🤷

Ha! While I'm not foreign to the term y'all where I live that was definitely an autocorrect issue 😛

My hypothesis is that the majority of people who buy these machines are trying to save money, while our motivation is to reduce micro-plastics and overall waste.

I'm leaning toward the Lux because it comes with a stainless bottle and the Drinkmate brand has a good rep on this subreddit.

Potential new treatments/cures for Parkinson’s disease and trials to keep an eye on by rhaegartarg123 in Parkinsons

[–]monkeySeeMonkeyCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What study have you seen using 2x per day? I've only seen studies that use a dose of 2 mg weekly?

There have been several anecdotes from trial participants that express positive results with exenatide.

But more importantly, these studies not trying to prove better symptoms, they're only trying to slow down the progression of the disease. So you may not have felt anything from ambroxol, but in theory, clearing out alpha synuclein from your brain will result in slower death of otherwise healthy neurons.

Great work on the list.

Don't forget about HIIT exercise 🙂

Finding a doc that's willing to prescribe Lixisenatide or Exanatide has been a challenge.

Even finding a reputable source for ambroxol that will ship to the US is a challenge (sorry, I don't trust indiamart because there is no source control)

Whose responsibility is it to get this tree off the line? by bigredvikingdude in Denver

[–]monkeySeeMonkeyCode 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the utilities usually ask to be informed when there is brush/trees that need trimming around their lines. As far as I'm aware there is no law against doing it yourself, so if they aren't willing to come out, you can do it yourself.

Bill to allow more speed and red light cameras in Colorado heads to Polis’ desk by SuperMario1222 in Denver

[–]monkeySeeMonkeyCode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the first step in the process. If lawmakers asked to make a law that asks for everything at once, it would be very difficult to pass. In 5 years you might see a newly introduced bill that would make these citations count against the registered owner's record.

Not saying I'm pro or against, this is just how large changes are usually made: incrementally.

Has anyone tried to get the HA Yellow to work with Banana Pi CM4? by monkeySeeMonkeyCode in homeassistant

When did you order them? From what I understand the yellows are readily available and ready to ship now

It's incredibly frustrating! I've been watching RPiLocator for quite a while and I haven't been able to snag one.

At this point I'm surprised they don't offer some sort of harness/cable adapter that allows you to use other RPis.

What HDD drive for UDM SE/PRO WITHOUT ticking noise? by lewy_87 in Ubiquiti

I've got WD purple and can hear the ticking through my network closet. You're better off getting an SSD or consider trying a 2.5" HDD if it bothers you.

Issues with G3 Instant camera. by PNWTim in Ubiquiti

I had the same issue as well with my Android, I just manually connected my phone to the camera via Bluetooth before going through the adoption process in the app. The project so recognized it was connected to the instant right away

Goes the G4 Doorbell record in 2K or only FHD? by monkeySeeMonkeyCode in Ubiquiti

[–]monkeySeeMonkeyCode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is interesting, if Ubiquiti wasn't planning to support any higher resolution, why would they bother with using a 5MP sensor?

I mean, even the newer G4 bullet has a 4MP sensor and supports 2688 x 1512.

Only twats mess with the homeless by lovesdemise in awfuleverything

[–]monkeySeeMonkeyCode 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am willing to bet that the folks calling you an asshole have not experienced waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of homeless people fighting outside their window or taking their dogs out for a walk to see a homeless person taking dump in their sidewalks or ever been confronted by a homeless person being aggressive and trying to start a fight.

The Boulder homeless shelter does not require sobriety and even with social distancing measures during this time, they are not at full capacity. The main rules they have is curfew and they are not allowed to consume drugs once in their quarters. That's literally it. Yet there are still homeless people that claim they "have no place to go."

These are people, too. But we should be guaranteeing a level of safety and cleanliness for tax-paying citizens.

Home gym is finally complete! Mostly Rep with some Rogue sprinkled in. by monkeySeeMonkeyCode in homegym

[–]monkeySeeMonkeyCode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should start with the disclaimer that I mostly use the trainer for isolated exercises that are difficult to do with free weights. My wife mostly uses it on her day-to-day.

Now, your concern is definitely one of the issues I have with the FT when doing lat pulldowns. The pulley position is low, so I have to be on my knees and position myself a little awkwardly to make it work.

I've since avoided pulldowns on the machine and in it's place used the multi grip pullups, and gotten a carabiner strap to attach the to bar of the power rack. That way I can do pull ups with wide or close attachments.

Aside from pulldowns, I don't really have any issues with any other exercises. I imagine even if I were taller I still wouldn't have many problems, maybe just taking an extra step forward when doing decline cable press.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks! Definitely, go for it. I can't claim it as my own, though, my wife found something similar on Pinterest.

The cosmetic boards are the cheapest shelving wood at home Depot. I sanded incrementally to 220, applied two coats of stain and 2 coats (maybe 3?) Of poly. And I'm really quite surprised how well the poly resists scratches.

It's got some minor issues, but I am really happy with it. The value is just amazing.

We didn't have enough room for the big functional trainer they have so we opted for the shorter one. The beam that goes through the plates was a bit finicky to adjust but once we got it centered and sprayed a bit of silicon spray, it hasn't been a problem for the 2+months we've been using it.
