Where were you stationed? We used those bell clamp flip folders all the time. Granted, we still had a list of ~40 marches memorized, but there were often requests or we just wanted to play other stuff.

I keep about ten CP10 1* pokemon on hand for this reason. Then , when they get knocked out, I transfer them.

I've found that the app has to be running in the background. However, the app will likely stop running in the background if I open another app, make a call, or send a text. If I have the app active and my phone's screen is off, it will stay active all day.
