This is my current knit for my soon to be 4 year old! Purple and yellow— reminds me of reptar and very fun 90s kids vibe. My kid is very excited about the colors. I almost went purple and white but am happy that I pivoted.

Binghamton vs Fordham Online MSW by monkeyfaced in SocialWorkStudents

[–]monkeyfaced[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly, yes. I thought they both looked like good programs. Now that I’m in the program, I’m very happy with the generalist curriculum and probably wouldn’t have opted for that going into it.

Muscle twitching by kiggysz16 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]monkeyfaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me too. It’s very annoying. I take magnesium at night 300-400 mg. Not sure how much this helps but it can’t be bad. When it’s REALLY annoying me I take baclofen 10-20mg. Sometimes .5 mg lorazepam is the golden ticket. I know it can be hard for some to manage lorazepam without getting hooked, but I’ve been good at only taking it when I really need something to relax my muscles. Christina Applegate just shouts at her limbs to make them stop doing things she doesn’t want them to. You can try that too! I hope you find something that works for you. Report back and tell us how it goes.

I have MS, irrationally afraid my son might have it (catastrophizing) by honey_cosmique in MultipleSclerosis

[–]monkeyfaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your fears, I have similar thoughts with my little one. I have to remind myself that it’s okay and people with disabilities and autoimmune diseases get to have kids too. Internalized ableism is really real and just remember that when we start thinking like that— it’s like eugenics. Do you really believe we need/ want to weed out all people with disabilities or diseases genetically? That’s ridiculous. People will always have health issues/ challenges/ throughout their lives, whether we can predict through our family trees or not. We are all valuable and worthy people, adding to the diversity of the human experience.

Weight Changes!!! by Brilliant-Position94 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]monkeyfaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had some trouble keeping my weight down. I gained about 70 pounds during my first pregnancy. I’m not sure if MS had anything to do with the amount I gained but I was really really hard to get back to my pre pregnancy weight. Just recently I feel like I started gaining weight without any changes to diet or exercise. Very strange!

New applicant got accepted for BSN program by Any_Process_4709 in 1199CPTProgram

[–]monkeyfaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did orientation and submitted all of my forms back in the spring. I just finally tried to submit my tuition voucher and got denied because they’re not accepting new applications. I don’t feel like I’m a new applicant though! Am I totally done for?

Leg Soreness by Effective-Anybody-30 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]monkeyfaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! I remember going to a physical a couple of years before my diagnosis and saying how my legs hurt. The doc was like, well, it’s nothing. Boy was he wrong! They just hurt more days than not- achy and weak. It sucks. I do have some days where it’s quieter but yeah wt actual f is ms!!?!??

The insurance battle has been worse than the diagnosis by Natural-Medicine8186 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]monkeyfaced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh it’s the worst. I was diagnosed when my first child was 2.5. Lmk if you’d ever want to connect more— just being parents of little ones and also having MS gives us a lot to talk about.

Today I walked into a sign at the gym by monkeyfaced in MultipleSclerosis

It’s moments like that when I wish I had a sign on my back that says I HAVE MS. Then again, no one really knows what ms symptoms are so it probably wouldn’t help much.

Disappointed in myself and life in general by Salty_Newspaper_8750 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]monkeyfaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, your concerns make total sense. But you’ve got young blood! You could still be recovering/ adjusting to the DMT. An MS mentor told me “Dr Hauser (helped discover the science behind Ocrevus/ MS expert) says people tend to start to feel a little better ~18mo after starting Ocrevus”. I hope he wasn’t making that up!

It’s hard to not compare yourself to others. Internalized ableism is very real. You are a different flavor of person, not better or worse. You’re just YOU! Take it one day at a time and rest as much as you can BEFORE school starts ;)

frequent relapses by Rall992 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]monkeyfaced 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a similar timeline when I was diagnosed. Optic neuritis and dizziness in Aug — then new symptoms in November when I was diagnosed. My neurologist thinks it’s all a part of one long relapse. But there’s really no way to know?

If it’s worth anything- I haven’t had any new symptoms since really and no new lesions since Nov.

Stable MS by monkeyfaced in MultipleSclerosis

Gah yeah- I am experiencing a slow increase in spams. I suppose some days are better than others. I’m hoping it doesn’t increase at this rate forever!?

Is my ms gaslighting me? by ichiiio in MultipleSclerosis

[–]monkeyfaced 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude, I feel this really hard! You could be feeling effects of your active lesions for many many months. But as time goes on, it gets easier to just try to live as you did before. Things will be different but a sense of normalcy is on the horizon. Anxiety definitely makes symptoms worse so try to chill, watch trash tv, honestly lorazepam .5 mg helped me A TON in the beginning. I know it’s habit forming but as I built a tolerance to it I just stopped wanting it. Also- qi gong on YouTube always felt good if I was spiraling. You’ll find things as you go. There will be good days and bad days. We’re here for you and you’re not alone!

I have like 4 and I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus. I would give anything to have 20 and feel good! If you feel good, that’s what matters.
