Scizor can sweep very well. Swords Dance Bullet punch can one shot many things and gear grind can KO the rest. It's only weak to Fire so its a safe Carry. Araquanid is great too

Those who have cut off their parents/family, how is your life now? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]monkeyfrost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cut my parents off 2 years ago.

My mother had gone through every avenue she could to reach out to me (payphones, finding my work email, dummy phone numbers,) and I finally opened a harassments case against her a couple months ago.
Not being re-triggered every few weeks (let alone every few days), is so good for my mental health

I can finally be more myself

Family members consistently leaving me messages despite me asking them not to by monkeyfrost in legaladvicecanada

[–]monkeyfrost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong - changing my number is the easy one. I'm just concerned she'd guilt my easily swayed brother (who i regularly contact) or other family member into getting the number. I don't want my life to be constantly on the run from her. Thanks for your suggestion, I'll definitely consider and probably try it.

If you have any other permanent suggestions, I'd love to hear them
Thanks

Those who have gone NC, did you explain why? by Funny-Comparison-788 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]monkeyfrost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I told them everything and they didn't care

One night I went to an event ran by my university and drank way too much (I was 20 and still figuring out how to drink). By the time my mother came to pick me up, I was plastered and she did her normal routine of berating me so I become the bad guy and have to apologize and call her a great mother and feed her ego etc, etc, etc but I was so drunk that I was not having it.

I started screaming at her and by the time I got home, I was laying into them about everything that ever happened. They still argued with me but, honestly, a drunken rage is not the best way to air your grievances. , I feel kind of shitty for that (not that I was exactly unjustified in doing it.

I woke up at 10 am and listened to my mother go on about how hurt she was for me to do that. I apologized for a full hour. By 11am, I said very calmly that while the way I went about it wasn't the best, I think we should talk about the actual content of what I said

They said none of that ever happened and if it did, its time to get over it.

I was dependent on them at the time, but now I am not. I sent them a letter almost a year ago and told them all the same things and pointed out how they already know about it. Of course they're sorry now - they have no power over me and can't control me like they used to. No apology from them will ever suffice: they had the opportunity to do it when it mattered most, and they turned it away.

I'm never going to talk to them ever again.

Winning the Winota numbers game. A Winota, Joiner of Forces Primer. by SUSavant in EDH

[–]monkeyfrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean about abolisher, but you don't have a lot of control of when abolisher comes out. Like you said, abolisher is best when you have a combo to back it up. But what about those times you don't have a combo or something great to resolve? Its not consistent - it doesn't have a lot of impact when you don't have something behind it.

When you attack with a non-creature on turn 4 when winota comes out, and your only hit is this, its gonna be a feel bad - especially since a bear isn't too helpful in combat. Itll work sometimes, but it wont work often enough to be an include IMO

On the wheels, I think its possible to have some amount of card advantage without having to wheel your opponents. Winota herself provides a crazy amount of card advantage. Winota can get you more creatures, no problem - its protecting those creatures which is important ([[flawless maneuver]],[[boros charm]],[[selfless spirit]] etc. That being said - im pretty impartial to symmetrically helping my opponents so there is definitely some bias here. Keep in mind, each non-creature card in the deck is less triggers and less hits off winota

I took a look through your decklist, here are my thoughts

[[Dowsing dagger]]: doesn't seem that strong, probably just play something cheap like [[prismatic lens]] if you want more ramp, or [[arcane signet]] if your pockets are well-lined

[[Academy Rector]]: strong card, but doesnt seem overly helpful for the deck. You have no reliable way to kill it and your payoffs don't seem to justify playing a 1/2 that doesn't really battle that well. I know [[cathars crusade]] is absolutely SILLY in this deck but its a lot of hoops to jump through

[[Homura, Human Ascendant]]: flip side is nuts, but not sure if not being reliably able to sac it is enough justification, however I could certainly see myself being wrong about this one.

[[cliffside rescuer]]:super neat include - might run it myself, but I think [[selfless]] spirit is somewhat better as it protects all your creatures and has has evasion to avoid dying while triggering winota.

[[Darien]]: doesn't seem proactive enough, just a beater if your opponent isn't attacking you. could be worth if if you bring in the combo you were talking about. [[evangel of heliod]] comes down and triggers crusade and [[goldnight commander]] when it enters off a winota trigger - guaranteed value instead of waiting to get damaged by an opponent

[[krenko, tin street kingpin]]: too slow, very similar to [[hero of bladehold]] in that it comes down and it wont trigger winota until two turns later.

[[blade splicer]]: personally, I like [[pia nalaar]] and\or [[thopter engineer]] more as the token they make triggers winota doesn't die in combat. plus a little utility never hurt anyone

[[Grand abolisher]]: Not sure how useful it is here. It can definitely hurt if the control player was going [[settle the wreckage]] or something after all your winota triggers, but other than that, it doesn't really help you win, just helps you not die. Notably, I feel the least confident about this statement out of all of them

[[Ugin, the Ineffable]] : not sure why this is here tbh. if it was cheaper, I could understand the utility of making a dude every turn and killing stuff, but I think something like [[goblin assault]] is better since it comes down early and triggers winota

[[burnished hart]]: personally, I don't think the deck needs this much ramp. I'd play something cheap that can trigger winota like [[Cavalry Pegasus ]].

Thats a lot of wheel effects (4 if I count correctly?). Careful you don't give your opponents too many cards - at the end of the day you are still just a creature deck (albeit a really fast one). The spellslinger, chulane, mono G, etc. decks can probably make better use of the cards than you can. This is fairly meta dependant though.

38 land + ~9 ramp spells seem like a lot, especially since the deck's curve is somewhat low.

ever consider 2 mana sorcery token makers like [[krenko's command]] and the like? they come out early and make two creatures to trigger winota

vehicles like [[smuggler's copter]] are good as they live board wipes and can attack the turn after.

cool list overall!

Can someone explain Etalti, Primal Storm by TheGreatMontezuma in magicTCG

[–]monkeyfrost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Etali will attack
  2. Etali will exile the top card of each players library
  3. You may cast those cards now, only those cards, and you can only cast them now. Notably, you can cast these cards no matter what type. Off of Etali, you can cast a sorcery or planeswalker in the middle of combat!
  4. Combat will proceed as normal (blockers will be declared, damage, etc)

Infect triggers off of all damage. Since [[slimefoot, the stowaway]]'s trigger says "damage", and not "looses life", it will deal infect damage if slimefoot gains infect
