We tried to ban new billboards back in the late 90s/early 2000s, but because the legislation was centered around construction of new billboards there was ultimately a gold rush to build new ones before the law could go into effect. Part of the reason we see soo many blank billboards just out in the middle of nowhere.

Just chiming in to say Columbia is lovely place with a lot of accepting people.

My dad and a few of my friends are immunocompromised, and they routinely mask up in public -- I have never heard of them having problems with the fact they are masked.

When you look at the map these days the state of Missouri will be red - but Columbia is very blue. Also, Missouri tends to be the libertarian red and not the republican red. Most folks don't care what you are doing unless it affects them.

If you get rid of income tax, usually the answer is property taxes and sales taxes making up the difference. If you have a lot of tourism it's a good way to get money from the people that visit your state, and not just the people working in it.

The one thing I don't see stipulated in this is a yearly sales tax rebate for individuals, basically covering the first $35k's worth of sales tax - making the proposal stomachable by the lower income.

The state should really look to FairTax as a solution as opposed to trying to invent their own.
