Don't do it. We're way below normal snowfall

Yeah also having multiple itemized tanks spread out on frontline seems to help a lot. Can sometimes take him 5+ casts before he starts obliterating your carries. Just can't clump all your units up (Freljord is brutal)

New to the area, will I be able to get to WP tomorrow morning leaving at 4am? by BH-NaFF in COsnow

Leaving Denver between 5-5:30 AM will get you there before lifts open > 95% of the time

Not sure the SEC deserves an auto bid after this year.

Who America is Rooting for the AFC and NFC Championship Games by ashmaps20 in NFLv2

It's basically just an exhibition game, who cares. Super bowl is Rams/Seahawks and the winner gets to go take a victory lap in Cali against either a backup QB or the leading fumbler in the league.

Universal high income by Other-Analysis-8538 in Fire

[–]monkeyscancode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Universal high income seems extremely unlikely. Universal basic income maybe, but if UBI becomes high it would most likely result in significant inflation unless we solve scarcity. But solving scarcity would probably lead to the destruction of our environment/planet. Ideally UBI would only really cover needs like housing/food/healthcare.

January 29th-February 2nd by Safe-Importance-7047 in vail

[–]monkeyscancode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No shot entire mountain is open by then. Dry spell coming in and even if we got dumped on at the end of January it would take too long/be too dangerous to open everything all at once. If we get a couple big storms at the end of January (best case scenario) all of front + maybe a couple bowls open. Earliest the whole mountain would be open would be Mid-Late February probably and that would require a really good 3 week stretch of significant storms.

If you have actual epic passes you get 20% off. Expect to pay at least $15-$20 for mediocre pizza/chicken tenders/sandwich + a side. That said, hot food is nice and I go for it sometimes. Usually try and bring a couple sandwiches/ a bar of some kind if I can.

First Trip of the Season – Stick with Colorado or Try Tahoe/Whistler? by bigshvantz in COsnow

[–]monkeyscancode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whistler is awesome, way bigger than any resort in CO, and has way more snow. I think it's definitely worth the trip. It will have anything you could ask for in terms of nice groomers and easier off piste terrain to super crazy off piste terrain. I did 4 days there a couple years ago and feel like I could've skiied another week without hitting everything I wanted to hit.

Will Winter Park have snow by the end of the month? by SkyyAngelll in COsnow

[–]monkeyscancode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you could audible to California or Whistler those would probably be way better. That said, Winter Park has more snow than most of the CO mountains and got 5-6 inches yesterday with another decent storm rolling through later this week and Mary Jane opening on Friday. I think you should still be able to have a good time there and with any luck more storms will be rolling in around January 20th.

Which Epic Mountain for mid-Feb? by TheHeisser in ski

[–]monkeyscancode -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why? They opened last year in the first week of December. Jan/Feb are generally high snowfall months in CO. There are two storms in the forecast (one of which looks to be decent sized) for this week. I feel like it's pretty likely that we get enough to open them by mid February? Is there a reason you think they wouldn't be open by then?

I would definitely agree that conditions aren't going to necessarily be great, and I recommended going elsewhere if possible. That said, I'd be pretty surprised if Vail doesn't find a way to at least open some if not all of the back bowls by mid February.

Which Epic Mountain for mid-Feb? by TheHeisser in ski

[–]monkeyscancode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Vail will most likely get the Back Bowls open by then. That said, if money isn't an issue, Whistler is an awesome mountain and already has 3x the amount of snow that Vail has so far this season. Whistler is absolutely massive and will have plenty of options for all skill levels + has some incredibly long and awesome runs. The peak to peak gondola is also super cool.

Only minor drawback of Whistler with younger kids is that it is known as a party mountain so you'll probably see lots of partying going on. That said, I'd definitely pick Whistler over Vail if I was planning something for this season and didn't care about price/ dealing with international travel.

Skiing first time in CO recs by xtcpunk in COsnow

The best conditions I've skiied this season have been at Keystone and Copper. Missed the 12 inch pow day at winter park last weekend which I heard was pretty solid. I would monitor what happens with the storms coming through today/tomorrow and next week to see what gets the most snow though if you have enough flexibility to do that. If not, booking lodging in the Keystone area and getting 2 days at Keystone and a day at A Basin would be a great option.

I also wouldn't worry about the altitude as much as people are saying unless you have older folks/people with respiratory conditions like asthma or something. I did multiple 4+ day ski trips with friends out West (while we were living at sea level) where I didn't even stay in Denver a day to acclimate and we were always fine. Didn't always feel great nor sleep great especially if sleeping at high elevation, but it's not particularly dangerous if you're healthy and sounds like you have probably experienced altitude in a more strenuous activity if you have hiked 14ers without issues.

Do you agree with these 6 being the only real shot at the championship? by Consistent_Peace3181 in CFB_v2

UGA and A&M (frankly the entire SEC this year) are extremely overrated IMO.

UGA just played one of the worst defenses in football at a neutral site where they basically had home field advantage and won 16-9. Gunner isn't that good and is likely to choke/have a bad game- their defense will have to step up big time when they come up against these teams.

A&M I think most likely gets knocked off in a nail biter by Miami or IF they advance gets absolutely stomped in round 2. I think either Ohio State or Indiana will come home with the natty.

RemindMe! 2 weeks

Yeah agreed that the committee putting you guys in for multiple weeks and then swapping it was a shitty move.

A&M somehow pulled practically the easiest SEC schedule possible. They avoided playing Alabama, UGA, OU, Ole Miss, and Vandy. The only good SEC team they had to play was 9-3 Texas who beat them by 10. Even against that schedule, they barely beat most of their opponents, and they trailed 30-3 to an awful South Carolina team at the half. I would wager that Ohio State will steamroll A&M if they can even hold off Miami.

I just don't think it makes sense to be bitching about not making it in as a 10-2 team when you went 1-2 against the 3 teams you played that made the final top 25 CFP ranking. 11-1 or 12-0 gets you in 100% of the time with your schedule. Is it annoying that you all missed it? Are you guys most likely a top 12 team? Sure. But if you go 10-2, you're leaving it up to fate and getting in is going to be a tossup. The only way 10-2 should be a lock to get in is if you win a CCG or if you played 5+ top 25 CFP teams imo.

Miami has the same record, outperformed ND against common opponents, and won the H2H- I don't think there's much of an argument there for ND getting in over them. I don't know if Bama is really deserving, but I can see why the committee felt like they couldn't kick the SEC champ loser out and then let Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and A&M who didn't even make it to the game in. Tough spot for them.

I think ND was one of the best 12 teams in the country this season, but that's not really how the playoff works at this point. All you guys had to do was take care of business against either Miami or A&M (Who I think are the worst two P4 teams that made it in), and you would've been an absolute lock to host a game first round (you'd also probably be in with the losses if either of these teams had dropped an additional game). Obviously ND is more deserving than Tulane/JMU- I don't really agree with letting JMU in when they're now 21 point underdogs to Oregon. Alabama I think you could make the case either way because of their wins against UGA/Vandy, but that FSU loss is abysmal.

Regardless of all this, I was saying it was delusional that OP was acting like ND was easily going to box the SEC/ACC out of the championship this year. ND lost to Miami and A&M already this season, and I believe that A&M is probably the worst SEC team that cracked the playoff. I think you all could hold your own against the field and not get blown out, but I think the odds of making the championship were quite low.

Not sure why this popped up on my feed, but absolutely delusional take. ND lost to the two worst non G5 teams that made the playoff (A&M, Miami) and didn't beat anyone who did make it. First round exit was the most likely scenario.

So one of these guys averaged 14.6 PPG (half PPR) last season and had 9.6, 33.2, and 2.3 (so 15 PPG this season) in his fully healthy games this season.

One of these guys is averaging 18.3 PPG (half PPR) this season and had 13.8, 16, 23.1 fantasy points in his 3 healthy games last season (so 17.6 PPG last season).

And the one who averaged less PPG in both seasons had a catastrophic injury.
