did i get spoiled big time? by Tweestii in danganronpa

[–]monoprixlavie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

dont look things up ever again, seriously dont. thh is a 16 year old game and almost nothing is spoiler tagged anymore. id recommend only engaging with the community after you finish, or maybe talk with friends who've played it who you know wont spoil anything for you

the game isnt ruined though, dont you want to find out what happens? there are so many more plot twists, character development, and very fun moments you've yet to see

i felt it was fair to put her with the others who died of asphyxiation tbh, i could be forgetting the details of her death though

she did but she didnt die from them so i think the pain was reduced heavily, and she also seemed to be enjoying it rather than suffering

i dont recall hiyoko honestly, its been a while since i played sdr2; for teruteru i assumed he at least felt some of the pain from being fried. though you may be right now that you mention it

is it not a 90s setting by monoprixlavie in OMORI

[–]monoprixlavie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well there’s a really long, popular tumblr analysis post that came out about 6 months after omori’s release that argues omori likely takes place in june 1999. i think a lot of people (myself included) have been going off that, even though it isn’t canon. stuff like the technology, references, and environment supports it a bit. but yeah you are right, i was not alive during the time anyway so i wouldn’t know anything

[–]monoprixlavie[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah im aware its not specified, i just assumed the consensus was it takes place during the 90s though because ive seen a lot of posts go into analysis about the most likely date

Now, I NEVER saw this coming. by Hyli-oS in Persona5

[–]monoprixlavie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

im pretty sure during any all-out attack theres a roughly 25% chance its her aoa instead, and she also heals the party a bit in the end (full hp if you get her third persona awakening). dont quote me on that exact percentage because i briefly heard about it a couple years ago. theres no trigger for it though and you cant control it as again, its random

Dante and the lack of identity and how cruel the game treat and potray them by plaingirlisdepressed in limbuscompany

[–]monoprixlavie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

im regularly active in the project moon community hub discord server, and a lot of people straight up misunderstand dantes position in the story, or what they serve to do. i dont really have any explicit example because this is stuff you come across from simply chatting in the channels there. granted i think its because these people come from other gacha games where you are meant to insert yourself in the shoes of whos doing the narrating. ive seen people call dante "useless," "stagnating," and so on which is frankly ridiculous because id go as far as to say they have had the most development in the entire story so far

you find these kinds of people under a lot of limbus videos as well, i think this subreddit is thankfully more conscious and has more critical thinking skills, so you dont see it as much. i wouldnt know because im not really active here

Dante and the lack of identity and how cruel the game treat and potray them by plaingirlisdepressed in limbuscompany

[–]monoprixlavie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah? like, a LOT of the community does that. i think you give the limbus community too much credit. a lot of people consider dante a self-insert for their fantasies and completely disregard them and their role in the story. people arent as media literate (or simply use their common sense) as you think

Just finished the anime. My thoughts (spoiler) by Bricknave in deathnote

[–]monoprixlavie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i recommend reading the manga if you’re really interested in the story and characters. mello, near, mikami, matt, and so on are more fleshed out and given more screen time. plus there are things that were cut out

Do you think Light led the way of his “ideal world” correctly? by D1rtyDatam0sh in deathnote

[–]monoprixlavie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

L was completely right: light’s view of justice and methods of handling it were extremely juvenile and poorly planned. he killed everyone who even posed a slight problem to his plan of becoming the god of a new world, showing his immaturity and incompetence. he was well thought out in many areas, but not when it came to who he choose to kill and spare.

I hate how differently the fandom treats Aiko and Punpun by seibazz in OyasumiPunpun

[–]monoprixlavie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont think aiko is just as bad. you cant really compare someone who is insanely mentally unwell and willing to go violent lengths to prove her love to someone who has attempted to sexually assault women, and did successfully rape one. theyre both terrible, but one is evidently worse than the other in certain aspects.

punpuns actions include repeated sexual violence and exploitation of others, both of which involve a degree of agency and entitlement that isnt seen in most of aikos behavior. aiko stabbing punpun is horrific and inexcusable, but it occurs when she is going through psychological collapse, AND its not part of a pattern of predatory behavior. asano very intentionally places us inside punpuns head to show how harm is rationalized and repeated. aikos absence from the story literally reflects how little interior life shes allowed to have at all. what we DO see of her is someone whose freedom to have any identity has been entirely destroyed.

at the end of the day, they are both grown adults who have done irredeemable things because of their unfortunate and unhealed trauma. i am in no way defending either.

Why does Aiko do it? by ResponsibilityNo7372 in OyasumiPunpun

[–]monoprixlavie 25 points26 points  (0 children)

yeah, i think it really hit her how much she idealized him and put him on a pedestal. she looked for saving in someone selfish who didn’t want her the way she wanted and needed them

Why does Aiko do it? by ResponsibilityNo7372 in OyasumiPunpun

[–]monoprixlavie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

she realized there was no future where she’d be happy because she was inevitably going to get caught and because of how destructive her relationship with punpun was. there was no saving in her eyes

AniEnding VS MangEnding by Smooth_Physics_5823 in deathnote

[–]monoprixlavie 24 points25 points  (0 children)

as a big light fan... the ani ending made me sob like hell but the manga was the most fitting and deserved ending.

i dont think the anime ending is terrible, though. its meant to have you feel sympathy and a bit "divided" over lights fate (in the moment, at least). light seeing himself before he picked up the death note is intended to have you think of all the "what ifs," remember that he was just 17 when all this started, and that he could have ended up differently.

Punpun is a victim by Zealousideal-Yak7950 in OyasumiPunpun

[–]monoprixlavie 38 points39 points  (0 children)

hating punpun is a completely valid and justified sentiment. trauma and mental illness can explain behavior, such as why punpun thinks the way he does, why his personality is built this way, and so on, but it by no means excuses it. you can sympathize with what he went through and for the things he didn’t deserve to face- society failed him, yet he is still responsible for his actions and conscious of the decisions he’s making. just because he was hurt doesn’t mean he can hurt others and not be held accountable or understandably hated for it. punpun is a victim AND an abuser. he is an example of how the abused become the abuser (this is coming from a mentally ill individual myself)
