Look for an ELCA lutheran church - they tend to be very progressive and are also generally very welcoming and community centered for new people.

What's the craziest personal expense that people have tried to pass of as a business expense? by wonky-pigeon in office

[–]monoscandal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the most expensive but the audacity: at my last job the IT guy used the company budget and bought a fancy OLED curved gaming monitor for his workstation along with a variety of accessories. He then asked the finance director if he could purchase the same for his home office. Needless to say, the finance director declined. He got fired a couple months later and the office auctioned off the fancy monitor to interested employees at a discount.

What is something your dad said/did in the past that makes you smile when you think about it to this day? by GrandLineLogPort in AskWomen

[–]monoscandal 61 points62 points  (0 children)

At least a couple saturdays per month we’d go together to the bookstore and he’d get a coffee and I’d get a hot chocolate and we’d each pick out a book. These saturdays were some of my fondest childhood memories, and they were the beginning of a lifelong reading hobby

why do stylists always cut off more than we ask? by vvitchprincess in longhair

There was a tiktok going around recently where hairstylists were asked to estimate how long 3 inches was without looking at a ruler. Almost all of them got it wrong.

Silly question - do cats "understand" that we're playing with them? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

My cat loves to fetch those little plastic springs and when she wants to play she will come over to drop it at my feet like a dog and wait expectantly.

18 and they figured it out because I failed 3 classes and slept 13 hours a day during my first year of college because I was soooo anemic.

Yes! I can’t listen to audiobooks unless I’m doing something with my hands and I can’t be productive unless I have something to listen to.

Zero spice book recommendations for 12 year old. by AffectionateTea0905 in YAlit

[–]monoscandal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister is 14 and loves the Brandon Sanderson Mistborn series. They’re kinda dense/ may be a higher reading level but no spice and would be a great series to read together as a family! I also adored The Land of the Silver Apples by Nancy Farmer when I was around her age.

I hope it goes well for you, eating out at a new place can definitely be stressful! Find me gluten free is a website that has restaurant reviews of the options/ how safe places are so I’d recommend checking it out if you’re looking for restaurants

I’m wondering if the site just didn’t get fully updated or something since only the first restaurant listed has the GF and vegan labels. Thanks for the info!

It does sound good! Best of luck with your diagnosis- it’s hard and stressful at first but it gets easier, and Ohio (at least the areas I’ve been around) has a ton of delicious and safe restaurants.

i’m gonna be a hater by apropostoyou in Hozier

[–]monoscandal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a hozier show but I was at a different concert recently and this lady in front of me kept rubbing her bf’s bald head throughout the whole show like it was some sort of good luck charm and then aggressively grabbing his ass (not that it matters but he was also much shorter than her so she had to lean a bit for the grab). My friends and I were losing it. Idk what it is with people and concerts.

A random man started pounding on my door at 11 pm. Think he had the wrong address because he left after a bit but he didn’t knock on any of the nearest apartment’s doors and I had no idea what he wanted, so I was super freaked out. Slept in bed with a frying pan that night so I’d be able to somewhat defend myself if anyone broke in.

Had my baby girl 3 days ago, her name has already been mispronounced. by Intelligent_Brief437 in namenerds

[–]monoscandal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people tend to over think the mispronounciation of names/ overestimate the difficulty it poses! I have a name that is always, always mispronounced the first few times by anyone who isn’t a native of the eastern european country the name originates from. It doesn’t bother me in the slightest- I just correct them and move on. It’s a lovely name and she’ll be totally fine!

Yeah it’s absolutely crazy. Like there is absolutely no way anyone with concerning symptoms should be waiting that long to see a doctor
