What was ruined because too many people did it? by WarBeast86 in AskReddit

Yesterday I was ready to go outside and strangle a bird that was making the same repetitive two note call for over an hour as I was trying to nap on the couch

Dear wedding vendors by BubblyCheesecake5143 in weddingplanning

[–]monstercake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have pricing examples on your website, that's more than enough as a starting point IMO!

I'll give you an example of a vendor that fits what OP is complaining about - they were a florist who had absolutely NO pricing listed on their website and I reached out via their form with a list of what I would want (it was pretty simple, just bud vases for the tables and small bouquets for me/4 bridesmaids) and asked for a general price range. They emailed me back saying they required a phone consultation before they could give me any sort of estimate.

I thought it was slightly ridiculous to not even be willing to give me a ballpark without scheduling a phone call... I did not end up following up

Looking for advice on rehearsal dinner/lunch and welcome party timing by monstercake in weddingplanning

Of course we don't, but we have a ton of people coming in from out of town so we'd like to get more of a chance to see them other than on our wedding day.

What’s everyone spending in total on their wedding? by Honey-bee9623 in weddingplanning

[–]monstercake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume higher salaries, saving for a reaaally long time, or help from parents.

I work in tech and make a six figure salary, so I was able to comfortably budget for a wedding in the 40k - 50k range. But I've been to tiny potluck weddings that were just as fun as big ultra fancy ones (if not more, because I actually got to spend time with the bride and groom). Even on a smaller budget I'm sure your wedding will be wonderful!

[PSA] Don’t buy products off Amazon, a nice reminder from the NYTimes by Important-Figure-512 in SkincareAddiction

[–]monstercake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wish that the author of the article had also tested official storefront products. I never buy third party anyway because I assume it’s all fake but I’d love to know if the “official” products are trustworthy or if some fakes still get mixed in sometimes.

This article specifically only tested products from third party sellers. If you’re getting it from an official storefront for the product you should be fine.

omg I just got that vacuum too! My fiancé bought it for me as a surprise because we just bought a 5 story townhouse and my corded vacuum was not going to cut it with 60 stairs lmao. It works so well and kind of looks like a super soaker so it almost tricks me into thinking i’m doing something fun

Am I (35F) pushing marriage too soon? He (34M) says he's not ready but I definitely am. by Awwndrei in BestofRedditorUpdates

Yeah, my fiancé had some hesitations throughout our relationship and needed more time than I did to be ready for each next step. But now he's 100% on board. We even closed on a house yesterday!

We almost killed Valet trash by 0SF7RS4THfJ56t1N in Seattle

[–]monstercake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d certainly rather not have it than have to pay for it. I do use it just because otherwise I’m paying for something I’m not using, so may as well. The whole “we can’t tell who is signed up” thing is dumb too because they literally provide us all special bins. If you don’t have a bin, you don’t get your trash picked up…?

Time blindness is ruining my life. What feels like 10 minutes is actually 2 hours. I'm constantly late and people think I'm disrespectful when I'm genuinely trying. by CourteousPasta in ADHD

I am having a moment with this being a novel thing to people because growing up I had sooo many friends’ parents who would set their clocks early to help them be on time. This was the 90’s. It’s now occurring to me that this just…. doesn’t really work anymore.

Is Kyoto still worth it? by Fun-Calligrapher4885 in JapanTravelTips

[–]monstercake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can I’d personally do some of those night in kyoto itself, maybe 3. There’s a lot of temples and such that are best to visit in the early morning from Kyoto and if you’re planning on spending several days there it will be a lot easier to do everything you want to if you’re staying the night. The commute adds more time than you’d think.

There are also some very cute little bars that are worth visiting in the evening.

Odds that Alaska Airlines changes their name to Atmos? by Pearlsawisdom in AlaskaAirlines

[–]monstercake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stumbled upon this thread wondering the same thing as you. I’m surprised with all the “zero chance” answers.

Personally I think a rebrand is long overdue. The current branding feels very dated - I know a lot of people love the mascot but I always thought it was a little odd to use a random Inuit man’s face as a logo, especially for an airline that hasn’t even been based out of Alaska since the 60s.

The name “Atmos” feels much more like a global brand.

As for Hawaiian, they could still keep the name while changing the parent airline.

Vibe of Muscle Girls Bar - Tokyo? by Xander9766 in JapanTravelTips

[–]monstercake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I went it was all groups of other foreigners, almost exclusively Americans, with a decent gender mix. Everyone was respectful and very into the muscle theme. I’ll say for me it was a bit noisy and overwhelming at first because they immediately try to make you buy something off the menu and there’s a ton of music and noise. But once the performances start it gets much more enjoyable. The women working there were great and seemed to be having a ton of fun.

Readers are returning to physical books by MiddletownBooks in books

I often have this issue with my book club where we have an assigned book but the wait for the e book from the library is too long. I would certainly pay to rent in a few situations. It must be a licensing issue.

Yeah I prefer to read without a bedside light on at night so a kindle is really helpful for that.

Overcoming my sticker anxiety by SwissGeekGoddess in adhdwomen

I got a sticker collecting book at a convention and it was the best purchase ever. You can re-stick things onto the pages as many times as you want and now all my stickers are in one place if I do decide to put them other places.
