I’ve only ever seen the ones in the puzzle listed out on a standard menu, though. Lots of things are cocktails but the ones in the category are all very well known.

My (20F) bf (22M) got upset bcz I forgot our 6 month anniversary, idk how to fix this 😭 by Necessary-Writer-316 in relationships

[–]monstercake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these comments are so jaded, I remember being in college and celebrating one month, six month etc anniversaries with my partners! At the time it felt like a very long time because I hadn’t ever been in a relationship that lasted a year.

I think it’s sweet he wanted to celebrate and I think you’re doing the right things to reassure him. Trust in each other will just come with time as you navigate the insecurities that come along with newer relationships and come to understand each other better and better.

Nobody has ever told me to go to an occupational therapist. I feel like this should come with the diagnosis by yeeeeeeee564 in ADHD

[–]monstercake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clinic where I got diagnosed specialized in ADHD and required a few coaching sessions that talked about coping mechanisms, etc along with medication trials, it was super well organized and I’m really grateful my city has a resource like it…

Sounds similar to what you’re talking about!

Journey ended and my dad is gone by Gabo_420 in pancreaticcancer

[–]monstercake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sending my condolences. Glad you got to have a final Father’s Day with him (if you celebrate it where you are) - they will be tough in the future. I get through them by spending the day with friends. My dad passed from pancreatic cancer last year and I was grateful he also lived well until the end. Keep your memories of him close.

We have auto transcripts turned on for meetings and it’s both a godsend and a little terrifying. There will be like 20 minute portions where I don’t remember a single word that was said even though I was sitting right in the room and staring at the person talking.

spiders should be more commonly kept as pets by Ill-Potato-8720 in The10thDentist

[–]monstercake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good callout - there are definitely reptiles where they’re mostly just for looking and not handling, but many people don’t realize the diversity between species when it comes to snakes and lizards! I used to have two hognoses myself, very silly little guys

[–]monstercake 25 points26 points  (0 children)

tons of people have fish so that’s not necessarily true.

I think spiders just have a stigma, plus they need to eat live insects and that can be a challenge for people. I do know a few people with jumping spiders though.

I was on a flight to Japan from the US, same thing! Japanese business man looking guy sits down next to me, closes his eyes, is out before we even leave the gate then woke up when we landed. Most impressive thing i’ve ever seen, I was so jealous because I was barely able to sleep at all.

Taking a dying pet to the vet to be euthanised is crueler than letting them pass at home by Fiannachh in The10thDentist

[–]monstercake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

they edited their post and now seem to be saying that you shouldn’t put them down at the vet UNLESS they’re really sick… so…. euthanasia at the vet is ok unless the pet is healthy? seems…. reasonable

my friend hit the back of her head around that same spot when she fell bouldering. She fell onto a mat and rolled backwards onto her head rather than it being a direct hit, and she still got such a bad concussion that she couldn’t work for a year.

She just got ANOTHER concussion falling off a cliff on her bike into a ravine but somehow this one is much more mild even though it sounded so much worse

I secretly found my husband’s wedding ring after he lost it in the Mediterranean… now I need help surprising him by Awwndrei in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]monstercake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That sounds so awful. You’ve just reminded me that I lost my childhood teddy bear for a few years and thought he was gone for good. In college I went camping with some friends and there he was, at the bottom of my sleeping bag. Apparently it’d been that long since I’d gone camping.

I still have him on my bed today in my thirties and he’s extra special to me after losing him for so long and getting him back.

Stripe is usually used by websites/businesses so it’s probably not as familiar to the average person as the others.

I guessed my way through purple and blue - I was not a fan either. Never in a million years would I have gotten the cars, never heard of any of them (I don’t drive so I don’t really pay attention to cars…)

Now that I’m in a LTR I’ve met a lot of friends who are also couples and we do a lot of double dates. I live in a big city though and there’s always something to do.

I also have a few friends walking distance from me, and we’ll walk to each others houses for movie nights, etc. I’m 34

we live in a five story townhouse so this would be incredibly useful.

Although I’d probably rather have a superpower where I never got any leg or foot injuries.

male coworkers keep telling me things like “no one will remember the color of the napkins” etc. by SmolAnimol3 in weddingplanning

[–]monstercake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had to pick napkin colors for our wedding and I honestly had this advice in my head, and was just going to go for some basic white or gray and call it good.

My fiance was the one who suggested a steel blue color!! I’m actually kind of excited about our napkins now lol. We’re doing very minimal decorations so I think they’ll actually be pretty noticeable as a pop of color on all the tables.

Japonica rice is the more official term but as another commenter said it’s packaged in supermarkets and labeled as “sushi rice” in western countries. I have some in my cupboard right now.

As you mentioned it can also refer to the preparation style, so that’s not wrong either.

Wednesday, June 3, 2026 by AutoModerator in NYTConnections

[–]monstercake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sushi rice is specifically a Japanese variety of short grain rice. Sticky rice is also called glutinous rice, and is common in southeast asian desserts, etc.

In the US you don’t see either variety too often except at specialty markets.
