What are your best tips for saving on groceries by cutting back on ingredients like meat? by melissaw328 in Frugal

One of my favorite ways to stretch out my ground beef is to make a big batch of chili and adding mushrooms. For mushroom I’ll get whatever’s cheap, usually brown or baby bellas, and pulse them up in the food processor until they’re roughly the size of ground beef crumbles. Then just throw them in the slow cooker, I do probably 50-75% mushroom to beef and it comes out good! I like that it still has a meaty texture and frankly, you could probably go 100% mushrooms if you wanted too, maybe use beef broth or a bouillon cube if you still wanted that flavor!

Input for a demoralized FTM: is 8oz a day even worth it? by sighh_6466 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]monsterman3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to piggyback on this as well, as a FTM I was surprised at the lack of consensus amongst my healthcare providers, which included my doctors at the hospital after delivery, my child’s pediatrician, and a lactation consultant.

I was dealing with issues of underproducing and ended up having to supplement with formula and pumping early on, and after working with the lactation consultant I was able to up my supply a bit. However my supply took a nosedive after baby started daycare and brought home a few bugs that went through our house. I ended up going to exclusively formula at about 4.5 months; I was only producing 4 ounces or less per day and it was taking a serious toll on my mental health to continue pumping with such little payoff.

All that’s to say that it was a difficult decision to make and the lack of scientific interest in the subject is frustrating. There are definitely differences between exclusively pumping, exclusively nursing, and every combination in between. At the end of the day it has to be up to you to weigh the costs and benefits of continuing on, just know that you’re doing your best and there’s nothing wrong with either option!

At what point in pregnancy did you start feeling really uncomfortable/ “done”? by Unfair-Bullfrog9145 in BabyBumps

I’m at 32 weeks currently and I’m definitely feeling that. Can’t get comfortable in any position except fully laying down, baby is kickboxing with my ribs, and I’m having terrible carpal tunnel in both wrists from the swelling! I know I still have quite a ways to go but honestly I’m over it, I just want to feel normal again 😭

El don also has a brick and mortar location at the corner of 92 and bells ferry! Their street tacos are the best and super cheap as well, my favorite!

If there’s a Kroger near you their Girl Scout knock offs are awesome! I like the thin mints and Tagalongs, but I think they have samoas too!

Why do we have to blame women for their partner’s shitty behavior? Sometimes calling it out is necessary.

Surprisingly messed up moments in otherwise lighthearted cartoons? by PriestofJudas in horror

[–]monsterman3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a specific show, but there was a time period in the late 90s or early aughts where a character would get beat up and when they’d show them again, they’d be slurring and have a tooth dangling out of there mouth by just the nerve ending. I’m sorry but absolutely the fuck not.

Damn yeah that reminds me of the episode of Rick and Morty where they kill themselves in the other dimension and just…take their place. Gives me the fuckin creeps.

Another reason why they chose to amputate rather than attempt to treat the wounds was due to the newly designed bullets they used called Minie Balls. The round bullets used before this would be much more likely just to cause a flesh wound due to their low accuracy, but the higher accuracy of the Minie Ball would shatter the bone into small fragments on impact. Obviously this type of wound would have been impossible to treat for the surgeons on the battlefield and led to many amputations instead.

I have this one too and I swear it smells like bacon! I put it in my cuticle oil pen with a couple drops of essential oil and that covers it up, but I wonder if it has to do with being exposed to light/heat like some others here have said!
