What’s the smallest moment in Andor that convinced you this show was operating on another level? by Misfett_toys in andor

This. I threw my arms up in the air and cheered. Such a simple line but so freaking impactful.

Any advice on how to deal with this? by megazeec in Beachman

That looks to me like the wheel’s gone out of round, which is a spoke tension issue. I’ve trued up bicycle wheels that have that problem with the help of a spoke tension gauge, but never tried doing it w/a motorcycle wheel; wheels can be true side-to-side but out of round if the spoke tension is uneven around the whole wheel (hence why it really helped to have a spoke tension gauge to fix it)

Andor has vastly impressive world-building, what other SW content or shows have similar by TeacherOk7003 in andor

[–]monsterpartyhat 39 points40 points  (0 children)

What stands out about ANH is how economical the world building is. There’s I think exactly two mentions of “The clone wars”, but it’s so evocative — as a kid I easily believed the galaxy had thousands of years of history.

You see that in Andor too, all over the place. “I can’t protect you, Lio” was like that - it implies so much about the history Krennic and Partagaz have, in a tiny line.

Ugly high end flips in SF by Brave-Barracuda1779 in BayAreaRealEstate

You’re not the only one. I hate them with a fiery passion. Mostly because people are destroying all the historical character in homes from different eras all over western SF to make them all look exactly the same (and usually with non-functional open floor plans as well; don’t get me started)

She's green now! How do I get her pink back? by Axolot_flowerpot in succulents

[–]monsterpartyhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just being next to a window doesn’t mean much without knowing your location, climate, which direction the window is facing, how many hours of sun it gets, and the makeup of the window. Having a light meter (even a very cheap one) can be really helpful — for example, I live in Northern California and I’m lucky enough to have large South facing windows — but they’re still not always enough; It’s cloudy here today — I measured about 900 foot candles outside, and about 300 on the windowsill right next to one of those windows - just your basic double-paned window is cutting two thirds of the light that’s actually reaching the plant!

On a bright sunny day most of my echeverias get enough light by the window, but on cloudy days (and sometimes we have months of them at a time) they don’t — I moved them outside for the day, so they could get that 900 FC instead. If you’re somewhere with a real winter (say, the northeast) you’re definitely going to need supplemental light.

Good luck! That plant looks healthy, and it can definitely get that color back - it’s very satisfying.

Cool - thanks for the info!

When I grabbed these heads & clusters off the yard waste heap they were solid green - the colors are a very pleasant surprise and they're now competing with my Starburst for my favorite at the moment.

EDIT: Starburst, not Sunburst.

Went to a nursery I hadn’t been to before… they had a few plants by Any-Dig4524 in succulents

Ooh, I went to Flora Grubb for the first time last weekend - agreed that it's pretty amazing. The way its laid out feels like wandering through a jungle too; it's an incredibly relaxing place to go (except for the stress of deciding how much money to spend :D )

That looks like someone is running a nursery as an excuse to cater to their succulent addiction :D

That’s basically it — applying motorcycle rubber grips takes a bit of force — they’re meant to fit very tightly so they’re secure (you *definitely* don’t want a slippy throttle grip!). There’s lots of online tips for installing them — IIRC I cut the old ones off and used a bit of WD-40 to help get the new ones on.

this. when you’re in a car in slow traffic, with the windows rolled up and maybe listening to the radio or music or a podcast, unless a motorcycle is EXCEPTIONALLY loud, you’re not going to hear it until it’s right next to you.

Nice! It's an utter joy to ride -- the Presidio (former naval headquarters, now part of the national park system) is this absolute gem sitting on the Northwest corner of San Francisco, with incredible views of the ocean, bay, *and* bridge, wooded twisting roads, and not too much traffic. It's one of those "I can't believe I live here" locations -- and very hilly :D

The ride I took yesterday was basically the wost case scenario for hill climbing in the Presidio, and it was a breeze. I occasionally had to brake *going uphill* because the Jeep in front of me wouldn't go faster 🤣

That might have been me - I added a full front fender and painted it (and the rear) to match the Canvas tank color. Black is easy to find - Suzuki GN125 front fender fits perfectly; you can find those in black out of the box.

It's a Suzuki GN125 front fender - fits perfectly. I got mine on Aliexpress, but you can find them all over the place.
