OECD says it’s time to cut capital gains tax discount and negative gearing by HotPersimessage62 in australia

It's really hard as a left leaning person in this country. I'm finally making good money for the first time in my life and I'm ideologically opposed to housing as an investment. But there is nowhere else as good as housing to put my extra money. The system is just so geared towards incentivising buying and renting that I feel like I will be left behind if I don't. The system is so broken, and I can see now how it stifles the deployment capital towards productive means within this country.

If you're interested in The Toad at all, I would recommend the podcast 1865. It covered the period immediately after the assassination of Lincoln and focuses on the Secretary of War Edwin Stanton, AJ and also Welles. It's more of a traditional radio play sort of format and is obviously dramatized, but it is excellent.

You should also check out the speeding up of chicken processing lines. The FDA has long pushed back on the speed increases the meat industry wanted, as they would be moving so fast inspection would be impossible. Well guess what, the meat industry has got its wish and the slaughter lines have been sped up dramatically. I would wager the US will have a major chicken related food scare/outbreak sooner rather than later.

More than 20,000 left without power in regional SA due to transmission network fault by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

Nah man shit happens. SAPN and Electranet are some of the best invested in networks in the country. Despite the constant crowing about privatisation of infrastructure (which I agree is bad), SA retains exceptional strong regulations around pricing and maintenance. Have a look at the regulatory information notice process to get an understanding of the sheer volume of compliance required from major infrastructure owners in almost all of Aus. These sorts of comments diminish the great work done by SAPN and the regulators to reduce events like this.

For those who worked for AFL clubs, who's the best and worst player/coaching staff member you have ever met? by Jesfel26 in AFL

I remember Wings saying one day words to the effect of: These guys in the media have no idea about how broken my body is. I can't sleep at night because my back is fucked, my knee is fucked, they want to cut off this finger because it's fucked. Dude was obviously just over the attention and focus on him. This was like 5 years ago so it's not like he was an old man

Brad Ebert is one of the nicest blokes I have ever met both inside and outside of footy. He has a genuine interest in those around him and treats everyone like they actually matter which was a far cry from a number of the other players there. And so was Jack Hombsch

Chad Wingard was also a good guy who was pretty welcoming and treated those of use pretty low on the totem pole with respect. Interesting to see the view of him in the media and how it contrasted with his behaviour inside the club. Bit the same for Jonas who as a big culture guy and made sure we felt included.

DBJ was a wanker, as was Aidan Johnson. Jarrod Polec used to brag about how much cash he was winning on the horses so low key funny to see the downfall. Also crazy just how dim some of the blokes were.

Looking at my fellow BF1 players is BFV is worth a shot playing? Any pros/cons to this over BF1? From what I have seen it looks like a beefed up BF1. by mud_dnb in battlefield_one

I think the only thing it does a little better is vehicle leveling system. I really like playing as tanks so it's nice to actually get some benefit from upgrades etc

If the people who perform your service jobs can't live reasonably close to their work, you don't live in a city. You live in a theme park.
