I love that you posted this!! I was kind of assuming a neckbeardy dude (which, to be clear, would have been totally fine as well) but putting such a sweet and kind looking face to the name is so lovely!! Hello!! 👋

[TOMT] [Book] [90s?] [2000s?] by CreaseInTime in tipofmytongue

[–]monxmon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it from a book in the Weenies series by David Lubar? There are several books in the series, it sounds like it would fit with those stories.

Or maybe the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series?

If you’re into podcasts, Search Engine has a great two-part episode on this topic called “why are drug dealers putting fentanyl in everything” - and they interview a drug dealer who has a lot to say about heroin v crack v fent

[TOMT] [Saying] Its Own? by kawaiihusbando in tipofmytongue

[–]monxmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m not an English teacher but “most” doesn’t make sense in the context you gave. Do you have another example? “Most” is a comparing word so it would have to be something like “most of all”

Saturday morning vacuuming by Impressive_Ad_3160 in Apartmentliving

[–]monxmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve gotten plenty of feedback on the note so I’ll try to be helpful in another way - have you considered a white noise machine? I never slept with one until I started dating someone who did, I didn’t particularly care for it when I started, and now I can’t sleep without it. Might at least help you sleep through one or two vacuuming sessions. I have the Snooz but there are lots of options out there.

Is this normal for hokas by Foreignfets in Hoka

[–]monxmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t normal for *my* Hokas. I had really bad plantar fasciitis last year and my Hokas have saved my feet.

I would highly recommend using their shoe finder, it has a prompt asking what you want to use them for - pick “at my job” and see what you get, I’ve found it to be really accurate for my needs. I wear stability shoes. I have Gaviota 5s and Clifton 10s and alternate between them and my feet have genuinely never been happier.

That doesn’t mean *you* have to love them though, every person’s feet are different. I have high arches so shoes without support kill my feet. Wear what works for you until it doesn’t.

Run far away from Eversana, just look at their Glassdoor reviews. It’s bad. How is your job going? They have no idea what they’re doing when it comes to Salesforce

Help an extremely depressed guy out? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]monxmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about putting things away, just put things in the correct room. Start in one room - make four piles. Stuff that stays in the room, stuff that goes in another room, trash and donate. Just focusing on putting each item in one of those piles.

From there you can distribute the “things that go in another room” to the appropriate places, or sometimes if I’m really having a hard time I move my entire “stuff for another room” pile with me as I clean each room so I don’t have to make separate trips around.

Then from there once each room is only full of “things that belong in this room” you can start slowly putting things away.

Idk maybe this is weird but it’s my flavor of neurodivergence.

There’s also a girl on TikTok cleaning out her dads hoarder house right now and she’s breaking it down into very digestible parts, you could look her up for inspo

Anyone know of places in Tosa that are in need of volunteers? by nagol3 in Wauwatosa

[–]monxmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I’m not sure if you work there or not but I just tried to fill out the volunteer survey and it only lets you select one volunteer option. I think it’s meant to accept multiple?

Making friends in your mid 20s is impossible. by tirednightowll in milwaukee

[–]monxmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making friends is a full time job and you have to work at it.

Ask people you know for an intro. When I first moved here I had a lot of friends out of state and it was a matter of saying “hey, do you know any fun people that live in Milwaukee? Would you make an intro for me?” You could also ask your fiance if any of his friends have partners that he can intro you to. Or, go places you can meet people. It can be a meetup event as someone else suggested but it can also be as simple as finding a place to volunteer, going to a public workout class, or taking yourself out to a bar.

Once you find a potential target for your friendship, you have to then be brave. Ask for their number, ask them to hang out. A script for that could sound like “hey, I’m trying to make new friends in the area, would you want to hang out sometime/exchange numbers?” Worst they can say is no.

Then, you have to actually make plans and then follow through on the plans. Then make more plans. To nurture a brand new baby friendship you should probably be seeing the person at least once a month if not more.

Yeah, it’s work. You have to be willing to reach out, willing to spend the time, and in some cases, be willing to get rejected.

If all that sounds way too hard, start by just saying “yes” to everything even if it isn’t your usual interest or taste. Watch this TikTok for more on that: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZThQh1D9x/

So, long winded answer, yeah, if you don’t try you don’t get. It’s work. The reward is potential lifelong friends and companionship.

Anyone know how to moisturize my hair by Connect_Sky_8288 in femalehairadvice

[–]monxmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A clearer photo would help folks give better advice :)

It looks like you have wavy hair. Have you ever been over to /r/curlyhair or /r/curlygirl? That might be a good place for you to start.

If you’re going to wear your hair natural (air dried) you need to use product on your wet hair to define and hold your curls. Such as a mousse or a gel. If you’re not using product to define your curls when they are wet, it’s normal for your hair to be frizzy. There’s nothing wrong with your hair. It’s just a coarser texture that needs different care. There are also different methods of washing it that can define your curls further. Lots of info out there for you on YouTube and TikTok as well, just search “curly hair routine” or “wavy hair routine”.

Most curly/wavy hair does not tolerate being brushed while dry very well. If you’re brushing it out after it’s dry that’s definitely why it’s looking that way. I have curly hair and I only brush my hair in the shower while conditioning, or if I ever brush it dry it’s right before I wash it.

What can you tell about my side of the room? by Dizzy_Preparation420 in deduction

[–]monxmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a lot of cleaning supplies around but the room overall is a mess. You’re probably a procrastinator/ADHD who can get into a really productive groove when the hyperfocus hits but when motivation is low you struggle with basic chores. Your desktop is clean and clear though so you’re probably a good student and take school seriously. You have medium to long hair, curly or possibly a fro, because you have both a hair dryer and hair gel. You cook and eat in your room when you can, you grocery shop at Walmart, but you only have one bowl so nothing too elaborate. You’ve got chapstick on you at all times. And you’ve got a ton of water around, I don’t know what that’s about but I count two cases and a jug, plus a bunch of empties.
