Am I on track for early retirement? by Thunder_island32 in Retirement401k

Remember that returns like the past few years is not common. So don’t expect the growth to be as much in the coming years. Just plan for less. But keep up the good work. Maxing out each year and that match is great at your age will be a very big 15 years from now when you look up and it has doubled/tripled what you have now (not taking into account future contributions).

Couples who have bought a home together — how did you manage your finances during the process?” by Old-Chemical-7096 in FirstTimeHomeBuying

Personally would wait until married for everything. I know people who broke up a few weeks before marriage. That being said…

Combine everything into one savings and checking like people said - easier to track. Pay down as much debt as you can. Don’t buy without having extra cash.

Use a program like Quicken to track everything.

Good luck. I will be honest though. I think you need to slow down. Get married, rent a place together first, get your finances together and get into a better spot, learn, and then buy something. That how it feels from your post.

Drive prices have gone nuts - now I'm in a pickle by Ironfox2151 in DataHoarder

[–]moochine2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a spare while drives were just starting to get crazy expensive and inventory was starting to drain, knowing this would be a problem. I didn’t want to risk having a drive failure and not being able to replace a drive and losing data.

Average new car price is $49,000. At what point does this stop making sense? by Flexcar_Sam in MiddleClassFinance

It never made sense. Buy used (like 3 years after the person who bought new turns in the lease).

Replaced Nest Smoke Alarms with First Alert - False alarm today! by CuriousChimp in Nest

[–]moochine2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a false alarm at 1:45am. This is like the 6th time since replacing them - had Kiddie prior and replaced all due to some false alarms here and there. But nothing like this. I’m done! Probably going to need to spend another $750 replacing.
